Hello everyone, my name is Spencer and I am currently enrolled as a senior at Gilbert High School.

I'd like to thank the Quiet Professionals for opening up this site to us non-military folk; words can hardly express my joy at being endowed with this opportunity to expand my wealth of knowledge. Just another lurker here.

Hello everyone.
First off, I'd like to state my appreciation to the owners of this forum for providing a great information resource to those interested in SF by keeping it open for anyone to read and participate.
My name is Mike, and I've recently begun reading and learning about SF. I've started to consider joining the Army and upon learning about SF have become interested. My gut reaction has been that it's the kind of life, career and purpose I've been looking for and would excel at.
I currently work as a software engineer. Yet throughout my life I've always been drawn to outdoor adventures, a sense of mission and determination in accomplishing whatever is most difficult, to push and test myself, and more recently, something that has a more meaningful purpose. You can say it's kind of a turning point in my life as I just can't see myself doing the conventional thing anymore.
Clearly this is not a light decision and I want to go into the Army knowing SF would be a realistic possibility.
This brings me here to learn more, as part of the self evaluation process to eliminate any objective limitations and make sure this is the right thing to try for, before I run with it.
I can already see that there are many quality people here, based on the things said, and how.
I'll keep this as short as an introduction should be.
Thanks

I am interested in learning more about becoming a SF soldier. My idea is to start training, research as much as possible, and to enlist in the military. I want to test my limits while building on the necessary skills to serve my country with strength and honor. I've spent several hours reading the posts here and impressed with the amount of helpful information that is available. Thanks to all the QP's and people in the military for your service.

I've visited this site for a long while now looking for professional opinions on foreign policy from guys who have to live inside of it. I've also been interested in the combat/outdoors medicine and ballistics side of things.

In other words I guess that makes me an inquisitive wannabe.

Currently getting in shape for the Houston Police department academy although I also have considered National Guard service (active/reserves no go due to age).

Hello Team Sergeant and everyone else, thought I would go ahead and introduce myself to the community. My name is Ryan. I have been active duty for a little over 5 yrs now and I am very dedicated to serving my country. I was stationed in Korea with 1/503 IN (AASLT) and have been to Iraq twice now. I attended SFAS this May, was selected and will be heading for Airborne in Nov. then hitting the pipeline in Jan. I am looking forward to the start of a new life in the Army. I was in the sniper/scout platoon in 1/9 IN and after experiencing that kind of small unit training I have been very motivated to join SF ever since. I will be training as an 18C and learning French. I want to thank you for allowing me to be part of the forum. I hope to learn a lot from talking to the current senior QP's here and the guys fresh out of the course to stay up to date on training and also tips and tricks to taking care of myself over there. Thanks again.

Hello everyone,
I have been visiting this site on and off in between blocks of training and have found it very interesting and informative. I finally recently registered, and have been meaning to post an intro, but have been entertaining family that came in for the events.

I am a new 18B currently in what they call phase VI (graduation and outprocessing) eager to get out of here, get to my new unit, and back into the fight.

before attending the Q-course I was a "support guy" served in both the 782d MSB(when there was such a thing) and later HHC 1/10 SFG(A)

I'd like to extend a special thanks to those who make this site possible and also the all who have helped me get where I am today.

Hello folks.

I've been gone from the board for quite a while, so I thought I'd post a quick introduction. My name is Dan, and no, I no longer attend UCSB (it was a case of a poor choice of username four years ago). I'm a prior service infantryman who currently lives and works in the high desert of northern Nevada. When I'm not out trying to rub pennies together, I mostly enjoy shooting, off-roading and trying to keep my girlfriend happy. :lifter

I have had the honor of meeting a number of the QPs on this board in person, and am thankful for it.

I left the Army in 1979 as a SGT, E-5 to finish my college degree. I returned to the Army in 1981 by completing OCS, and becoming an Infantry officer. I served in 7th Special Forces Group at Ft Bragg and Panama; US Army JFK Special Warfare Center & School; 19th SFG(A) as their active duty advisor; and 1st Special Forces Group at Ft Lewis, WA before retiring in 1999, with just over 22 years active duty. I then took a job at the USAREUR HQ in Heidelberg, Germany as the Chief, Antiterrorism Teams for 3 years. And for the last 2 years I've been the Lead Physical Security Specialist for NOAA, in the National Capital Region.

Finally signing in. I am Frank H. spent much of my time in C/1/7 and from there went to C/3/7. After some other jobs out of Group I was reassigned to C/1/7 to complete the circle.

I finished up in 1/10, they wanted to see if old bones would break on the Austrian ski slopes (no they did not). Made my way back to South America and I have been working here for 5 years.

Hello again Gents. I've been looking in once in a while, but been hitting the books as much as possible until recently....figured it would be a good time to get back on here a little. Just finished the course. Couldn't be happier with my assignment now. Might not hear a lot from me, though I would appreciate any input from some of you seniors out there on "going to your first team". I expect the regular FNG treatment, but any good additional tips are always greatly appreciated. Thanks Gents, and have a good one.

Former 11B here, a college student, and a working man, who is using every bit of spare time to prepare for SFAS. My main goal is to be able to run ten miles at decent pace and ruck eighteen miles at fifteen minute per mile pace by January (progress has been good so far). Might come as a surprise to most but thanks to my good genetics I actually enjoy running and rucking (and the pain associated with them too). However, the upper body is a whole different matter (not weak by any means but quite painful in order to exceed the standard).

Went to tryouts and got accepted (20th SFG).

It's about time I post an intro. I went through the course from 1986-1988 as an E-5 reservist, although assigned to 5th group. I did active duty tours with 7th group in Central and South America.
I'm an MP captain, now in the reserves. I'm hoping to return to the middle east either on active duty or as a contractor.
Currently I'm teaching combat tactics to noncombat soldiers at APG.
I miss what we do and the caliber of the people we are. I did the army ten miler a few days ago. I tried to get a bunch of my coworkers- active and retired -to join me. Just because I'm in my 50s doesn't mean I'm ready to quit challenging myself.
If anyone knows of a good skydiving group in MD or PA please let me know.

I appreciate this resource and hope to learn a bit of the SF culture here. I'm a recent enlistee to the United States ARMY. I will be training to be a medic and plan on attempting a run at being an ARMY Ranger and possibly down the line an SF Medical SGT. For now I'll keep my eye the the 25M target.

Hello all, I guess I should finally post an introduction. I am a former 19D that had aspirations of becoming SF, unfortunately I ended up with knee injuries that led to my medical discharge from the Army after 6 years of service. Never could shake the bug, which is what led me to studying so much military history over the years and learning as much about weapons as I have (still learning constantly, as the industry never sleeps). Tried re-enlisting several times, but a Cat-4 RE code has kept me on the sidelines (probably a good thing, with my first child on the way).
I had the pleasure of meeting Ambush Master at Shot Show 2008, who was kind enough to invite me to check out the forum. I am very glad to be here, and it is a honor to meet you all! I guess I have always had a bit of "Hero Worship" for the Green Berets, but I figure a guy could do a lot worse for picking role models!
On a side note, one of my friends joined the Army as an 18X earlier this year, and is at the Q now, so if anyone there runs into a rather large young man names Lxxxxx, drop "Thug" and tell him Dees said to push, LOL!
Thank you, a pleasure to be learning from you all!

Hello, I first would like to express my deepest thanks to all who have served in every branch of this great nation's military. The U.S. continues to have the best, bravest and brightest soldiers in the world. I would also like to extend gratitude to the creators of this site, it has been a wealthy source of information for me as I start my life in the U.S. Army. To best sum up my pre-combat, immature, idealistic attitude I have selected a quote.......

"O to struggle against great odds, to meet enemies
undaunted!
To be entirely alone with them, to find how much one can
stand!
To look strife, torture, prison, popular odium, face to face!
To mount the scaffold, to advance to the muzzles of guns
with perfect nonchalance!
To be indeed a God!"- Walt Whitman A SONG OF JOYS

Put something in your profile lest you incur our wrath. Re-read the rules. Team Sergeant

Hi Sarge. Sam Dixson (Bear043) here. Thanks for allowing me into your house. I have not introduced myself until now, as I needed to have a look, determine the environment, and dfine the average age of the members. I was in SF from 74 thru 88. Then we had C rations (expired 6/48). I did a little fighting, jumped from a few airplanes, lost alot of good friends, received a few medals.

I've been lurking long enough without introduction so,

I'm an active AF cop with a few years experince, currently downrange, working for the Army. I worked civilian LE/Fire Rescue before AF life, did some cool stuff there, and then decided I wanted to go downrange and do a bit more.

Found this board, read through some threads and enjoyed the intelligent conversations of the various topics. The thing that struck me most was the lack of whining as I've seen on my own careerfield forums.

Hopefully I can add if/when topics come up I can speak too.

Cheers,
-Dan

Time to introduce myself. Registered a few months back and never posted. I prefer to keep a low IP profile; training I guess.

My experience is short and simple. Retired LEO. 1990 went “back door” into Panama 1 Jan via Costa Rica; 2 weeks post Operation Just Cause. Intelligence asset for the DOD and DOJ prior to Just Cause and time spent in Central America. Spent the next 3 years in Panama; living and loving the jungle. Anybody remember how much of a living hell Colon was after Just Cause.

Was glad to get back to the world after CA. But these past ten years or so, I do not like the politics and the petty wrangling. Heck, are we the only ones who understand what “war on terror” means? Love my country and would sacrifice all, (again), for it. As for the “guys” who run it; well that’s a different story.

Thanks guys for bringing back good memories of my time in Panama and Central America. :lifter:lifter

How yall doing? I go by Pick. I am currently an SUT instructor at Phase II of the SFQC. I was just checking out what they got here. Some awesome info from the pros. If anybody got any SUT questions let them rip. Keep them professional though. I been at SUT a year and at first I hated it, but it grows on you and it is making me one heck of a trainer and facilitator for trainning. It is one of the first looks at a SF NCO for a student and I take it serious as hell!
If we can't train our own then how can we train others?

To the SF and Moderators of this site:

I've lurked here for several years, and as I've had a registered name for much of that time, I'm overdue for an introduction. I'm a student in between community college and a four year school. I will be entering James Madison University in the spring of 2009 with a major in History and minor in Political Science. I plan on enlisting when I graduate.

I must give my sincerest thanks to the moderators and SF on this site for keeping the door open to guests. This is easily one of the best sites I have come across. It has become my go to site for relevant opinion and information.

I doubt I will post too much, but I will definitely be reading!

Thanks again.

Greetings professionals! Though I have been reading for months, I realized when posting an article early, I had yet to make an introduction. My apologies for posting out of sync. I am a civilian, volunteer with a non-profit organization that provides support to our deployed troops, wounded, veterans and families of all the above. I am also a Recovery Care Coordinator for the DoD and it gives me great pleasure to 'serve' and assist each of you given the sacrifices and service you have given on my behalf on both fronts. If you or those you know need a hand with anything, please do not hesitate to contact me. God Bless you all for being who you are!

Hello gentleman. Im sorry as I didnt read the posting rules for this individual board and I apologize. I went off half cocked without reading the top of the page. With that said Im a US Army Retired SGT. I have served proudly in both the Marines and Army. I was deployed with both of those branches and am now Retired as a result. I now reside back home in Nebraska and am looking forward to life as a civilian. I have quite a bit of knowledge that comes from experience overseas and Im looking to share that with other people that may benefit from the info. Thank you for letting me in your community and I hope to be a worthwhile contributing member.

Hey All,

My name is Ken DeMaria, and I spent all my action time at 1st SFG(A). I served in 2nd Battalion from 1993 - 2005; my early years I was an 18E, mostly pre-137 it was "cutting edge" at the time and you couldn't even say "ALE". My former years I volunteered to be a 180A so I could avoid SWC and a PCS move, as well as extend my team time.

I did a couple of tours in Haiti on 141 and 140, then upon my return from WOBC in 1999 I served on 153 and 154 before being pulled over to the Special Activity Cell at BN S3, where I served a rotation in Afghanistan.

My last two years in S.F. were spent working at Detachment-West at Fort Lewis, WA.

I'm retired now, and own Pacific Northwest Consulting, LLC as an independent contractor conducting advanced skillset training for NEK ASG and Blackheart International, LLC. I also sell communications devices at trade shows and at military installations for Blackheart International LLC.

When I'm not on the road I spend the majority of my time assisting as an active member of Destiny Christian Center, in Puyallup, WA (www.destinychristiancenter.com). I'm specifically focused on serving the "Young at Heart" group (over 55 years old) and enjoy participating in the Mens Ministry. I give an open invitation to anyone who is interested in why I'm so excited, during these times and issues we are always discussing in the news, to be a Christain who loves Jesus and why understanding the huge benefits of a life lived partnered with Jesus.

I've joined the Professional Soldiers community because I want to stay in touch and re-establish old relationships with all the great guys I've served with over the years, and to encourage those that have made the decision to pick up our rucksack and carry on our great tradition of "De Oppresso Liber".

I signed up just to make this post saying thanks for the information you have provided me, so, I doubt I will post much. While I am involved in shooting sports and have some experience in law enforcement & emergency medicine, it is unlikely I would have anything valuable to contribute.

What I really want to get out there is my gratitude for the wealth of emergency medical information you have posted in the TMC-14 forum. I stumbled upon it looking for people's real-world experiences with clotting agents, an item I wanted to add to my first aid & trauma kits. Not only did I get what I wanted here, but found an invaluable resource that made me re-vamp my whole system.

Retired from EMT work, my wife & I live and work on our family farm, and our neighbors do mostly the same. We are at least an hour away from definitive medical care, so I try to be as prepared as possible for the inevitable accidents. When you deal with large animals and farm equipment long enough, someone will get hurt. This story (http://www.iclassifiedsnetwork.com/content.aspx?module=ContentItem&ID=41097&MemberID=1180) about a local kid got me off my ass and upgrading my gear in case I'm the unlucky First Responder to such a thing.

I appreciate the hard work, dedication to training & profession, and courage to perform that you guys exhibit. Thanks for sharing your hard-won expertise with the rest of us.

On a side note, when I was doing my EMT training way back, one of my instructors was a Viet Nam era PJ named Wayne Fisk. I try to use the term sparingly, but that dude was AWESOME.

Thanks again. -Michael

My name is Eric, I am a 29 year old 68W (combat medic) with the Additional Skill Identifier of M6 (Licensed Practical Nurse). I’m currently PCS’ing to FT Jackson, SC to work at Moncrief Army Community Hospital.

I have been interested for the past few years in giving Special Forces a shot. I guess I found this site when I was researching new boots. I wanted to make sure that I bought boots I could break in and use if I eventually decided to go for it. (Belleville 390 DES Hot Weather Tan Combat Boots)

This site was very helpful, and I have spent the past week lurking here and gathering intel.

Over the next few months you will probably see me on here asking lots of questions about Land Nav because I have never had the opportunity to be in a ground unit. Specifically I’ll be looking for resources on how I could improve my skills at home with practice.

I was a Boy Scout for 12 years as a kid so I know how to work a map and a compass, but civilian maps are considerably different than grid squared military maps.

My goal is to keep my mouth shut; ears open and use the search feature to its fullest extent.

I registered here many moons ago and my last trip in was in 2006. It feels good to be home, I see alot of familiar names. I entered the service as a Marine in 1988, had a break in service for a while and got back into the UTANG. I started out as a 45B and when the oportunity opened up to go to 19th as their 45B I jumped at it. I did the 03'-04' Afghan deployment with the BN. (Lora Logan was quote a treat for us all)

I came home I opened the gunstore and got our manufactures license. We moved into a 10,000 sqft building and are adding another 22,000 sqft for our indoor range complex this winter. We keep a good number of the team guys employed between missions, you could say it's a family business.

I am no longer with 19th, but I am still in the community. If you guys ever get to Camp Williams for training, drop buy and see me, the first rounds on me.

Hello this is not my first post but raither a reintroduction after my self imposed exile. I was a former SFQC student that was academically dropped from the 18D phase. Med Blocks 1 to be specific, I would claim this primarly due to my immaturity on taking my studies serious at the time. The board saw this and i paid the price of a return in 1 year without being given a recycle. A day hasn't gone by where I don't think about finishing the course and that reins true now.

My profile has been updated to reflect my current status. But I will elaborate more here. After being dropped, the cadre squirreled me away to work as a medic at SFAS in the fall of 07, as I was still SOCM medic qualified. This was their offering to me as a chance to redeem myself. I was there for about 3 cycles before a policy was passed that anyone dropped from the Q must leave SWG before returning for the course. After a few SGM playing tug of war with me because they needed medics I decided it was best to accept fate and go someplace where I could get small team experience.

I switched over to 96th CAB where I was a medic on a 4 man CAT-A. Admitidly I was fortunate to get this job as a SPC through an "under the table" deal. It's almost unfortuneate to say it took my experience in Iraq with that team and the casulties I had to treat to open my eyes to the gravity of whats expected of me. Nonetheless I performed well and it just reenforced my desire to finish the SFQC. Having an exceptional TM SGT who was well versed in SA and combat operations was also a major asset to my growth there.

Because of the circumstances surrounding the lack of medics in CA and through some form of a "good old boy" system my going back to the SFQC on active duty was going to be nearly impossible without burning bridges and ticking people off. I opted to leave active duty and go back to the SFQC through the 19th SFG, who have been more then willing to help me put my packet together, that I will be sending off shortly. We have time tabled my return to be in the Jan-Feb time frame.

In the mean time I am kicking off my college time with a semester focused in biology with an emphisis in pre med, after my time on rotation to Jacksonville during SOCM, I am inclined to go into peadiactrics or orthopedics. With a legitimate possiblity of restarting the course from the 2nd portion of Phase 3 for 18D it was also my intention to develop better study habits, admittily though the 18D course was much harder academically then my college classes combined.

In short I've brought myself back from exile so I can begin to keep myself updated on the community before I go back to finish the course. I've had the mentality that it's not a question of if, but when.

On a side note, I wish to pay respect to an old friend Jesse Clowers who I started the course with, he passed away last summer in Afghan. Saw him in the army times while down range at the time...

On the some what brighter side I belive I had the privilage of meeting the QP who goes by the name of Jack Moroney last spring during my time I spent as a G for the robin sage exercise. At least everyone called him Jack, the cadre minded us to pay respect too as we were told Jack is the legendary epitomy of what a special forces soldier is sposed to be. I certainly belived it when he mentioned something about just need his sidearm when we were escourting him out to his vehicle. I wouldn't doubt that he would neither confirm nor deny that is was him but I had my sneaking suspections and it was an honor. Rest in peace sir.

I apologize for the long introduction, I had 2 years to account for. :o

Edit for spelling...

Hello Sirs,

Thank you for creating this site. I am a native californian who just finished grad school for economics and am currently working at a University doing research. I also work as a firearms instructor and love to ride my motorcycle through Northern California, park it, and take my rifle and backpack into the mountains. I know it is my duty to serve this country and will be joining the army in roughly one year. Although I began with the intention of going to OCS and may still end up there, being a red-blooded American male I am looking seriously into the 18X enlistment option. This has led me here, to your phenomenal site. I look forward to reading and learning with humility and respect.

Sincerely,

Gentlemen,
just wanted to introduce myself in accordance with the protocol you have posted. I'm Sloane, a Quartermaster officer stationed at Fort Bragg with the 82nd. Also, wanted to thank ya'll for creating this site. I've been lurking on here for a little while and it's an outstanding resource that I try to use everyday. Thanks again.

I'm currently a Reservist in a CA unit in Phoenix. I enlisted right out of high school and went to Germany for 3 years. After being deployed to OIF 1, I left active duty and joined the Guard while going to school. I deployed again with the COARNG in 06-07, then moved back to Arizona and am currently finishing my degree.

I found this website when I was searching around on the internet for more information about SF and preparing myself for SF. I am from Huntsville, AL and currently in Army ROTC at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. I'm a senior/MS IV and will commission this Spring. Hopefully I will be going to Airborne School around January or so if they don't screw up my paperwork again. I just branched Infantry and will find out my duty station and training dates later in the Spring. If you want to know anything else just ask.

I've wanted to be a Quiet Professional since long before I joined the Army, but I've only hit my three year mark recently and finally got some imbalances in the strength of the tendons in my knees worked out [hazards of one of your unit's Docs being a Ranger I suppose. No matter how many times you see him he gives you Motrin and sends you on your way :p].

I'm working to square myself away now, as well as incorporating land navigation into my ruck marches [My Lt has a map of the post he said I could use, I've got a protractor, lensatic compass and know how to plot points. It's the pace count and shooting my azimuth I need work on].

I'll shut up here in just a moment. But first I'd like to say I am very thankful to be able to read the insight and knowledge of all of the Quiet Professionals here on the board. Thank you Gentlemen, it's an honor to be allowed in the presence of you all.

I feel honored to be able to share experiences, knowledge, and opinions in a forum that caters to professionals in the field. I have a very eclectic background and I hope it serves as a resource for those who wish to exchange points of view.

I was an environmental consultant before I joined the military, and I joined the military not as a career opportunity nor because of any other reason but that of a sense of social responsibility. Freedom is not free... if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

I hope to learn from all of you here and put my grain of sand on those topics I believe I can share my opinions or experiences on.

And for all of you that have shared the burden of keeping the ideology of freedom free for those who choose to be free... Thank you for your commitment and your sacrifice.

Welcome...

Remember if the pain is above the waist it's Motrin, and below the waist it's Foot Powder.

Don't forget that the "N" in Ranger is fer Nowledge...

Unfortunately the pain had nothing to do with swelling [which is the main reason I was being prescribed those 800mg horse pills] but with my knee cap being pulled out of alignment by the tendons on the outside of my knee being stronger than the ones on the inside. You would think that seven visits to him for the same exact problem would have made him wonder, but it didn't. I got squared away here at Fort Drum though. Doc took X-Rays and spotted the problem. A month of pool PT and my knee feels great!

Too bad it took three years to get to this point. :boohoo

Hello all,

A little background about me. I'm a Gunner's Mate in the Coast Guard, currently serving at an MSST (Maritime Safety and Security Team.) I work on the Waterside Security Section.

I work as a Tactical Boat Crewman, Persuit Crewman, Boarding Officer, and Didson/IAS operator (underwater detection/security)

I also work in the armory on top of everything else, pushing a lot of paperwork and running a lot of training, and occasionally getting my hands dirty.

Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone, especially when it comes to training ideas and methods.

Gentlemen,

First I am honored to be here. Working with the recruiters here in Germany to QAQC my packet for YG 06. I have read the book and continue to read the guidance within PS.com. I was once told to "look, listen, and feel" my way around. It has served me well thus far.

I am originally from Tennessee with a BS in Political Science. Currently serving with the 173rd ABCT as BN S4 for 4-319th AFAR. Not big on being staff but it is the nature of the beast.

Thank you in advance for any guidance as I follow through on the commitment I have made to become a Quiet Professional.

First, let me say that it is an honor for me to have the opportunity to join and post here. I am truly humbled by the actions of those that have served and share their experiences. I have been lurking from time to time here and joined a bit back, but have not posted or introduced myself. I am moving forward now.

I have never served in the US armed forces but am a career law enforcement officer with nearly 25 years of service in criminal investigations, covert/undercover assignments, and high risk warrant service/arrest tactical operations.

For most all of my life I have also been a military researcher, historian, and collector with emphasis on MACVSOG, USSF, and other Vietnam period special operations units. Look forward to learning more as I immerse myself in the information this forum provides.

Many thanks again - Lance ....

Hello all. I am 11B3p currently assigned as an instructor at FT. Sill OK. I am a former member of 173rd ABN BDE and served with them in OIFI and OEF VI. I have 13 years of service in the line Infantry and I am considering a change.

I post and hang out on Lighfighter.net and I can also be found on EAG alumni net. I am married and I am enjoying the down time that my current assignment affords me. I enjoy hiking, shooting, history and contemporary American fiction. I plan on doing a good deal of reading and researching on this board. Thanks for having me.

Hello,

I would like to introduce myself as David, and thank each and everyone of your for serving. I came here to learn more about the Special Forces community, and a possibility of my future endeavors. I have been training hard for the past year, as I want to honor my parents and go to college on behalf of their wishes. So needless to say, I 've got a couple years before I can join, which is good because I can mature and improve myself mentally and physically. I am working towards getting my asthma cleared, as I was informed by the Army that I could not join based on medical reasons. This isnt going to stop me, as this is something I've dreamed of for a while and I want to make it a reality.

I already see this website as a valuable resource and I thank the owners and the community members for keeping it that way. Many veterans have laid their lives on the line for me and I am ready to do my part and return the favor.

-Thanks, David.

My intro:

I'm a retired SF MSG, served from 1979-2003, Left Robin sage to work for NEK , retired in IRAG and continued serving as a contractor for three years. Walked away from it all for an oportunity if you will to lead a normal life. I live on the santee cooper lakes in SC. and am trully enjoying the ability to plan tommorrow and actually do what i planned. I do miss the brotherhood and the challenges but feel like i gave all of my adult life to the cause and it was time to enjoy some of what i fought for.
I ride for the patriot guard and support all vets whenever possible. I'm looking forward to adding too the competant and professional discussions that i've read here. Some who have figured out who i am are probably saying oh oh as i've never been short of candor. I'm married and happy ! My kids are doing well , who could ask for more. I'm retired so have used my real name here so those that know me will say hello. If i owe somebody money thats a fake name

Hello all. This is my first post. I've stayed out of the loop for a long time but decided to get back in touch after Col. Moroney's death. I spent 10 years in 10th Group. B/2/10 from 78 to 82 and then C/1/10 & B/1/10 from 82 to 87.

I've been reading the posts in the site for a couple of weeks now and I'm impressed with its quality as well as the professionalism of the posts. I hope to re-connect with old friends, meet some new ones and learn from all of you.

Thanks for the opportunity to join you.

Thank you for your service Gentlemen.

My name is Ryan. I am currently an undergrad at Northeastern University in Boston. I am interested in using this site to learn about the career path and considering a hiatus from college to serve my country as best I am capable.

I am a 35M DEP but because of the high standards, effectiveness, responsibility, brotherhood, as well as cultural awareness and involvement (I am an international affairs major with a focus on the Middle east and a minor in Arabic) are all factors that have pulled me towards SF. I do not plan to look past the 25m but feel that after some experience and hitting 4, I may consider putting in a packet and wish to use this site to continue to learn until then.

I plan to read more than post, posting with maturity when I do, and using this excellent resource to prepare myself to enter into the army, and learn from true professionals.

Hello,

My name is Mike and I thankyou for creating this website to help support your own community, as well as supply helpful information to others interested in joining SF, or who just want to show their support.

I am prior service Navy and served 8 yrs as a GSM (gas turbine tech). I served aboard USS Guam (LPH-9) before it decom'd, and USS Thomas S Gates (CG-51). I have been out of the service for 3 years now, but started missing military life within 6 months of discharging. I just started speaking with an Army recruiter this past Friday, and hope to be on my way to boot camp soon, or in my case I believe it will be the warrior transition course. I am going to try and get an 18x contract, even though I have been initially told I am past the max age limit to get it, im going to push to get one anyhow. I am only a few months into 30, so I will just have to see. My younger brother has just started the Q course this past monday, so I am rooting for him, even though I know he has it in him to complete his training.

That is a little bit on me, and from here I will just keep on reading and absorbing.

Thanks, Mike

Some family issues came up and have to put things on hold. Looking at going into the DEP program in Jan, and start the pipeline Jan of next year. on the plus side, I'll be able to get another year of school in, and more time to prepare myself. Needs come before wants, and I just have to keep my head up and drive on.

Hi everyone. My name is Spencer. I have been the crazy, adventurous type my whole life. I've always done well in school but school wasn't enough. I needed something more out of life and knew that I had much more to give. As of 11/05 I am officially an 18X Recruit and leave for Ft. Benning 01/20. Ill be honest, i'm not a guy who always knew he wanted to become a SF soldier. Im studying biology currently and felt I must take my eagerness and commitment to serving others to where it matters most, in suffering countries. Where else but the Green Berets. I love all that they stand for and all the work they put forth to serve means beyond their own. I'm focusing on getting in peak shape which i must admit is quite hard to prepare for when you read about the training you all do. Anyways this is my introduction and and it is good to be apart of this.

Hello everybody. I stumbled into this site by accident. I served 6 years as an 11b in a MNARNG unit. During those six years I had the privilege of working with a SF team in Bosnia in 03-04 and did a 16 month stint Iraq where I occasionally was involved in operations with SOF among other things. I also met a member of a 2/19 E-7 type at the U.S. embassy in Iraq who peaked my interest in Special Forces (unfortunately I miss placed his business card) and encouraged me to look further into SF. I’ve been extremely impressed with the professionalism, technical and tactical proficiency of those SOF personnel that I’ve interacted with.
Since then I’ve been in college, but it feels like I’ve been missing a piece of the pie. I’m positive 2/19 will be getting a call or visit from me in the summer. Until then I’ll be lurking in the shadows listening and learning. Stay safe!!! Thomps

Good day gentlemen,

My name is Spencer, I am an 11 bravo. I'm with the California Army National Guard and currently awaiting shipment to OSUT next August. I'll be in RSP until then, and I am enjoying it. Thus far it is the best decision I've ever made. I hope to attend the tryouts in January. My current unit assignment is CO B 1-184TH INF.

I look forward to getting to know those that are willing. I've been reading these forums for a year or so, and have found your information priceless. I do my PT, and what is required of me. I am currently trying to get my mile time down to 5:00, so that the 4, and 6 mile run time limits are a bit more "doable" as my current average is a 6:03. I make it a point to do my APFT twice a day.

A bit of background. I wanted to enlist since I was 12, when my uncle who went through BUD/S gave me a workout preparation packet, along with nutritional guides, etc. I love a challenge, and make an attempt to push myself daily. Thus far, the military has been everything I had hoped. Corny, I know.

Anyway, I am glad to be a member here and will make it a point to stay out of the way. I'm just here to ask questions, and learn. If anybody has any information or suggestions I am all ears, all the time. Rant off.

-Spencer

That's not an intro. And pretty cocky for the arena you signed up to.

Anywho, I'll try this. I was going to just lurk for a while but that post needed a reply.

My name is Darryl, 25 years old and a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class in the Coast Guard. Been in for almost a year now and will be on the supplemental list for GM2 next month when I have enough time in grade as a GM3. Currently stationed at Maritime Force Protection Unit - Bangor in WA. I've been interested in SF for a short while but the wife and I are at opposite ends on this discussion. (Yes, I know I need to grow a pair... lol) So while I'm in the CG I'm going to get as close as I can hoping that she'll eventually bend and I have that opportunity to join the ranks with you guys. In the meantime, I'll lurk the site and soak up as much wisdom as possible, so pending my chance, I'll come in knowledgeable. As you can see I'm positive because my wife understands why I want it but she's uncomfortable with the amount of time apart. Even though she knows I'll be gone a lot if I get the unit I want next, TACLET.

2. Look, Listen and Learn.
3. Make sure you are in the best shape that you can, but being a PT Stud is no guarantee.
4. Search, read and search more so you can prepare for what you are getting into.
5. Learn what it is to be a Quiet Professional, it is not a boaster or braggart but a Professional that does his job without needing a pat on the back and public praise or recognition. If you need that this may not be the place for you.

Good Luck.....:lifter OK get back to your PT and studying.

Hello everyone.

Name is Jeff, I just retired, I was in the Army for 25 years and in 10th Gp for 24 of them. I enjoyed every minute. But it was time for me to pass the torch. This is a very interesting site and I look forward to reading and participating in some threads.

Did you go through Training Group somewhere between the 82nd and 10th Group?

Just curious, I was there '83 to 86,

Sirs,
I have completed my 72 hours of observing this site and have read the rules. As requested, I would like to introduce myself as T. Sargent in Atlanta, Georgia. Ironically, I was referred to this site by a former operator so I can see for myself what happens when you break the rules when writing books. I am a Realtor and smalltime residential homebuilder. I consider myself fortunate and honored to be invited to this online community consisting of some of America's finest. I am unable to serve due to congenital hearing loss in one ear. Therefore, I have tried my best to live by a code and standard similar to yours in addition to the Bible. I have spent a great deal of time and money during the last 7 years trying to help local veterans of the SO community in simple tasks like getting to the VA, getting their RX and usually just listening. I'll be the first to admit maybe I do it for selfish reasons. Just being around these disabled "quiet professionals" helps me deal with my quilt in not being able to answer the call and serve. Therefore, it's a trade off for both of us. Still I'm probably getting the better end of the deal.

In addition, I have had the pleasure to help several Rangers (Tab bearers not wearers) and some of the white, black and even gray SO units with finding new homes to start the next chapter in their life's to heal and make up for lost time with their families. Helping and befriending these people has been the highlight of my career.

I am extremely well read in Vietnam history in an effort to honor my Father, Uncles and Grandfather's service there. I have a special place in my heart for those of you who served there. When our Country was at its lowest back home our finest kept answering the call year after year. Often times without a thank you! I found out by my mother several years ago that my father (severed on LCM boat running up and down the Qua Viet and Perfume Rivers) in I Corp and an Uncle (1st/7th Bttn Marines also in I Corp) both had to change out of their uniforms upon arriving back in the country in oakland, CA. We civilians can never let out soldiers down again! Ever! I encourage those of you not serving for whatever reason to make an effort to do something to help the vets in your community. One day when your child asks you if you served you can say no but explain how you did your part.

Lastly, I will observe the rules of this website and with your permission possibly participate in some of the treads pertaining to Vietnam which I feel I may have something to contribute in terms of its written history. Thank you again for the opportunity to introduce myself!

My name is Kris. I am a 23yo college grad. I am currently in the Engineering/Surveying field. Sitting in front of a PC 10 hours a day is boring as hell. So I'm about to switch careers..

I will be going through BLET in January and hopefully be hired on to my local PD before then. Once I get my foot in the LE door, the paths I wish to choose are pretty much endless..

I have been lurking for a while, and wish to learn more while providing some info for others..

Gentlemen,

My 7th Group name was "Kencito". I was an 18D, and the third to the last class to go through 300 F1, @ FT Sam Houston. I arrived at A/2/7 (741) in late 1994. Had a great time with those boys. Went to SFARTEC in late 1995, and arrived at C/3/7 ROP (794) in early 1996. Had the 3 greatest years of my life in "Charlie Co", the best SOB'S a guy could work with. I left the active Army in 1999, and bought a ranch in North Idaho. I have been in the AGR system with WA and now ID since 2000. I'm currently a 79Z with the IDARNG.

I can't beleive this much time has passed, I still feel like I'm a 24 year old medic delivering my first baby in Chimore, Bolivia. George, if your out there, send me an e-mail. I don't know who was more scared, you or me!

Hope to hear from some of the guys who shared the same ground as me years ago.

Ciao,

Kencito

Hello Everyone,

I'm a civilian EMS professional who has worked in EMS for the last 12 years. I have a passion for medicine, and many other things. I'm also an avid supporter of all of you who are 'quiet professionals' and veterans. Thank you for all you do and have done on behalf of our country.

I've been guilty of lurking here for a short time. The reason I have been lurking is because I'm not part of the community but I do like to learn and mostly read the 18D section. I have some friends and family who are fellow warriors and quiet professionals and it is my hope to learn as much from the site and all of you as possible. I'll mostly be quiet but I have enjoyed learning and reading the clinical discourse in the medicine section. I hope with time I'll get to know all of you better.

Thanks, best wishes, stay safe,

Familia,

Many within 7th Group circles would know me as FIG, at least those long in the tooth. I have gone through the normal cycle of growth in my days, 18B, 18F and currently 18Z. I have served on 794 (90-93) 753, 755, 763 (96-04) OPS SGM for 2/7 (04-06) and SMA CLS #57.

I am currently assigned to SOCCENT at McDill AFB, Tampa FL.

I have had the distinct pleasure of serving with some of the folks posting here on the boards.

Looking forward to conversing further with some of the community/family.

Thanks

Hey. My name's Eric, enlisted in Army National Guard and leaving for OSUT in Jan. My goal is to get Airborne qualified and then see about attending Ranger school some time after. If all goes well, some time after that I plan to try out for SF. My family is mostly military. I've always looked up to them, so I'm going to do the best I can at getting those goals accomplished and making them proud. Most important, as a new guy just getting into all this, I just want to be the best soldier I possibly can be and get the very most out the whole experience.

I won't be posting a milllion posts about nothing every day. I'm just using this place for more knowledge.

Thanks,

Eric

Richard,

My "long in the tooth" comment was meant for those still active SF serving. Guess i should have clarified that a bit more. Made sense to my pea brain at the time, though in reflection it would appear teething would be a better analogy in regards to the audience here.

Hello,
My name is léo, I’m trying to be a decent 18A in the french SF ;-).
At the moment I’m still in the French 18A training course. I will be in charge in January. After a military duty for two years (light armored cavalry 1998) I have been enlisted in SOF for five years. I became NCO in 2002 still in SOF with sniper and close protection team skills. I’ve been commissioned in 2005.

I went to Afghanistan once and Africa several times (Ivory coast, Djibouti, Gabon).
A master thesis has been made in 2006 by myself about the relationship between conventional forces and special forces in military operations in urbain areas in western armies from 1970 to 2006.
I’m 32 and I’m still studying in order to prepare another thesis about the career of commissioned officers in US, UK, Swedish, IDF and French SOF. If anybody is interested by the subject, feel free to pm me about this topic.
I’m glad to find your community, we are not so close in France. I hope I could bring with humility something to your assembly.
Sorry for my poor level of english

Hello all I am currently a SSG in Air Defense but am leaving to go to school in the next 2 weeks to be an interrogator and cant wait. I have been trying to go to Bragg my whole career. I am very interested in BJJ and MMA. I have seen the posts about your schools that are very close to bragg and really want to get involved. Here at FT. Bliss we had a judu and Jiu Jitsu team that I participated in but due to OPTEMPO I did not get to compete. I am more interested in MACP, BJJ and MMA so as to become a more prepared soldier. I have recently found your website and am looking forward to training in Bragg. Thank you for your time and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi. I'm a SGT in the Army and a Combat Medic. I have not been, nor tried, nor am I interested in being SF. Nothing meant as an insult, but it just doesn't fit into my lifestyle. But I also realize who the best medics in the Army are and take every opportunity to learn from them.

I have read the sticky's and the rules. Got it..."search" is my friend...roger.

I have recently been selected for a MTT Team, so my primary focus for being here is to learn more Primary Care knowledge and get a users view on newer medical gear.

Well I thought it was time to introduce myself.

My name is AL Elks, I join the army right out of High school and went straight into Special Forces. Yep, I was an SF Baby. Those were the good old days too. We had plenty of Vietnam vets and those guys made GREAT Team Sergeants. I was a PFC on the team holding down an E7 slot. I spent my first years in 5th SFG (ODA 584) until 1987 which is when I took a 1 year hardship tour to Somali where I served on an Infantry TAFT.

After that I escaped 5th SFG (during this time frame 7th SFG was where the fun was). Anyway with a VERY strong Arabic language background I moved over to A/1/7 (ODA 712 which was the mule team at that time). I spent a few years on 712 and was fortunate enough to attend ASOT training.

The SWC monster grabbed me and they were about to pull me to one of the Phase committees. The ASOT Detachment found out I was getting ready to get pulled so they snatched me up. I spent 4 years teaching ASOT and then got nailed at the TMC when I went to get some meds for a bad back and they threw me on a P3 profile (took me off jump status).

SWC took care of me and pulled me up to 2nd Bn where I served as the S3 Operations SGT for the 2nd Bn (Special Skills Bn). I moved from the S3 position to the 1SG position which is where I retired from in 2000. Two years after retirement I went back to SWC as a contractor to teach at the ASOT detachment once again.

Well that's pretty much my background and it's nice to be here.

Morning everyone, my name is Shawn, I'm 18 and out of California. Went through some long roads in the family life, graduated high school a year early to leave on a Ranger contract, made it to the final week of infantry OSUT before getting discharged for Scoliosis last June, watched my company graduate. Spent the past 5 months doing acupuncture and intensive physical therapy to correct it and build a good medical portfolio, going to MEPS in 2 weeks to get a waiver for Scoliosis and Myopia after a long road of work out of my pocket, will be obtaining a new Ranger contract and starting my journey back at day 1 of infantry OSUT in January unless I get stuck with regular 11x. My respect and appreciation goes to all of you. Keeping motivated.

My name is Jason currently a 68W EMT-B. In a medical unit as of now wishing I could get out. I am planing on flight medic and W1. Otherwise, im chill and hating MEDCOM. Too many medics in one place is not a good thing. Been in the military for 4 years, and have 2 MOSs. I like being a medic and would like to expand me knowledge and help who I can. Hopefully I can get out of the sickcall world after learning all that I can from it and become a line medic, instead of convoys every once in a while.

In addition, I would like to say Im sorry for posting without introducting myself. I was wrong and disrespected some of you. I will go do 20 mins of pushups. I will be more careful and raise my SA before posting. If you have anything to say please PM me. I will remain quite for awhile I know that I upset many QPs.

Gentlemen,

I just joined the site a couple of days ago, and am writing my introduction. I'm attending the SFAS class in December, and wish I had found this site a little sooner. Presently, I'm working in Germany as an Intelligence Analyst/Security Manager. To give you a little background, I spent five years in the Marine Corps over at 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, and got out. It wasn't long before I realized that the civilian life doesn't appeal to me, so I joined the Army with the expectation that I would try out for a Ranger unit or Special Forces. While I was in the Marines I was an Intel guy, so the Army wouldn't even think about letting me re-class into a combat arms MOS. Intel is great job though, so I've had a chance to learn the "Army Way", and train for SFAS.

I have a beautiful wife, and a dog. The wife supports my SF goals, and has stuck with me through a couple of deployments in the past. I fly for class in the very near future, but this forum has been a great tool to just keep my head in the game by reading posts by Silent Professionals. Wish me luck in the course, and hopefully my training will sustain me.

Hey guys,

Let me start off by telling you guys about myself. My father was in the AF and I grew up on military bases in Germany and all over the U.S. I'm currently a college student at a community college with a history major. I enjoy learning about anything that has to do with Military History. I found this site a while ago while doing research for a paper for school.

The reason for this introductions is in late October I was at the dentist office waiting to get my teeth cleaned when I picked up a magazine with an ad in it. It was an ad about U.S. Army SF. "Learn to use your mind as a weapon" The ad really got me thinking about my life and the direction I was heading in. At the time I weighed 385 pounds.

That same day I saw the ad I went straight to the gym. For the past month I have been working out and have changed my diet. I have also been reading every SF material I can get my hands on. The book GET SELECTED FOR SPECIAL FORCES has been my bible. I read it every night before I go to sleep. I am very interested in the "18 x-ray program".

This morning I weighed in at 350 pounds.

This is my introduction and I will use this site to the best of my ability in finding out all the information that will aid me in the future.

Daniel

Hello,

My name is Shawn. I have been a background member to this site for about a year learning from the welth of knoledge that is available here. I finally decided that it was time to step up my efforts and move into the next step by asking questions of my own. I'm currently an 11C20 in the Wisconsin Army National Guard in the process of deploying for the second time. I'm also facilitating my entry into our states new RSTA BN; specifically its LRS company to advance my knowledge, responsibility, and carrer. I enlisted in early 2005 in order to allow myself time to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. After a few years in and a lot of learning I've decided that the military suites mw well. I plan on finishing out my current enlistment contract in the guard, complete my civilian education to attain my commision, and then transition to the AC. My carrer goals are a minimum of O-6 with a short tab and top off as a detachment commander in the group community. The path to get there involves a lot of work, family sacrifices and considerations, and above all determination. I look forward to participating in discussionsand learning from all of you here.

I've been abroad again for a couple of years now (Iraq last year, eastern Europe now), and I'm loving every minute of it. I would be happy to get to know some folks on this site, young or old - it doesn't matter to me. If there is one thing that I have learned over the years, it is this: Sources of wisdom are endless, whether it is attained from the lowest-ranking team member or the oldest sage. I am humbled by the fact that I have "learned" from some of the best in the business. I wish all on this site - and all who dare to go into harm's way - the best of success, and a little bit of luck when necessary.

Hello, I am currently an Active Duty Officer (1LT) in the process of submitting my application for the board that's meeting in the spring of '09. I am a "non-traditional" 1LT as I have just turned 40. I taught High school Biology and coached soccer in my late 20's and early 30's and enlisted after Sept. 11th when I was 33. 3 years of enlisted time (to E5) then went to OCS and 3 years later here I am. I have been deployed for 15 months in OIF I (walking patrols) with the 1st AD and training Iraqi soldiers. I'm something of an anomaly in my current unit as I challenge all the younger guys to keep up with me in physical events. It makes me smile to see the scratching their heads trying to figure me out:lifter
I have been reading post here for a few weeks and have found them to be very insightful and interesting. I appreciate in advance all the questions, concerns and insight. I'm sure I'll learn a great deal. Thanks.

I'm shooting for a BSME which should be followed by a BSEE, and will probably be tied together with a MS program at UCD.

As for my areas of expertise, I don't have but one or two. I hold a supervisory position at a shop in downtown Denver running the CNC department. I don't know it all, but if any have questions about certain aspects of machining or sheetmetal manufacturing I'll tell you what I can. I'm also fairly learned in areas of law concerning firearms, holding a CCW and trying to keep a good relationship with the friendly local BATFE agents:rolleyes:. I'm NOT a lawyer, and I don't know it all, but there's a chance that I can tell ya where to look because the law can be a fickle thing to find. Other than that I'm just here to learn and have done just that, this forum is an excellent source of good information and pointers.

Thanks for letting me intrude,

modgod

Well my name is Brian. I am from Texas. Joined the Army in 04 after doing some college for a few years. My MOS is 13F. I spent 4 years with 1-501 P.I.R. in Ft Richardson Alaska. During that time i got to go to Australia for Talisman Saber in 2005 (jumped in) http://www.c7f.navy.mil/ts05/index.htm, NTC OpFor in March of 2006, JRTC BlueFor in August of 2006 and OIF in October of 2006. I went to SFAS in March of 2008 and got selected, then shortly after wiped out on my dirt bike right outside Palin's home town and messed my self up pretty good. ETS'd and joined the NG shorty after that on a early college drop and I am about to graduate Jr college this month. I should be attending SFQC as an 18B/french candidate in April 09 if all goes well.

My name is Pete, I'm 25, and I've felt drawn towards SF for a couple of years now. I'm currently considering SF or flight school. I'm in the National Guard and feel I could excel in either area. Ideally I'd like to experience both. I've come here to listen and learn, almost every question I have has either been answered or is being discussed so I don't expect to be posting much.
I don't expect too many questions directed towards me but I'd be happy to answer most if not all of them.

Hello to all,

I am a sergeant in the Pennsylvania NG, with whom I am serving on my third mobilization. Chronologically I have served in Kosovo, Hurricane Katrina, and now Iraq. My brigade (56th SBCT) has finally switched to a Stryker outfit and we will be the first NG group to use these vehicles in a combat zone, or any deployment for that matter.

I have thought long and hard about SF and decided, now, to focus all energy to learning the SF way(s). I realized quickly this forum will provide me most/all the info I need to get me moving in the right direction.

My goal is to try-out for B Co. 2/20 asap upon my return stateside. Thank you for allowing me to be here.

Deadspace 16 You will have to live it to learn it. It's a mentallity that runs deeper than these threads.

Pjody187 Chin-up and good luck.

paetrw, It will be either "rucking" or "Flying". Think hard.

Guardwarrior, Oft times we think we're high speed until the race begins.

Best to all, Blitz

I am an enilisted medic in the US Army. Had the chance to work with foreign militarys: Canadian, UK, German, USAF. Done sickcall, mounted patrols, EMS, medical coverage. Always looking to improve myself and others. Thinking about going flight medic for the rush and the SOCM course. Do not really know what path I want to take. Looking for good information and assistance to help improve myself and others. I will try to remain under the radar while in the QPs house. I really believe QPs are making a positive impact on the military with this site, I find myself trying to live up to a higher standard now that I have gained some insight to how things really are.

FWIW, I always considered the USAF to be a 'foreign' military force, too.

Greetings QP's and forum members,

First off I would like to say, I met some QP's while I was down range and have the highest amount of respect for those men.

I stumbled upon this website all of 10 months ago and have been reading ever since. I have not had the desire to post until now. Within the last 10 months I have learned that the search button is your friend.

I have read the book "Get Selected for Special Forces" sold by the Warrior Mentor website and recommend it to anyone who has entertained the thought for any amount of time.

Thanks to all the QP's who have created this website and the knowledge available possible to those aspiring such as myself.

Let me start off by saying that my name is Kyle and I am now a contracted x-ray candidate (18x) with a 20Jan09 ship date to Benning for OSUT. I'm 21 years old (22 in March) and serving with the country's finest warriors is the only thing I've ever wanted to do with my life. I have never been a quitter and going home without a cast or tab isn't acceptable. I strongly believe in the ideal that it is given to a few to sacrifice for the good of many, and you all deserve the utmost respect for the sacrifices you have made. I simply cannot wait to begin the process and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Thanks for your service and God willing I might meet some of you soon.

Hello all. I am retired from active and reserve Army. I served and became Q'd with the 12th SFG. I served there from '80-'90 in various positions including as a team commander in B/1/12. I was made aware of this site as a result of the notice of the death of COL Jack Moroney, one of my bosses and inspirations. A very sad day for me. I retired in '99 and volunteered for recall in '01 right after 9/11. Went back on active duty in '06 and served as MiTT Executive Officer in Mosul Iraq, returning in January to retire once more. Sorry i didn't do the introduction initially as required, i was a bit shocked and overwhelmed at COL Jack's death and then on the road for a bit, so therefore the delay. Thanks for having me aboard.

Having been suitably smoked for my first post without an intro here I am!

I've been lurking and learning for a few months. It's like drinking from a firehose. Discovered the site shortly after my nephew enlisted for the 18X program. He is currently at Ft. Benning for basic.

Me? Nothing exciting. Ex-USAF E-5, served 1962-1966. AFSC C30650C if that means anything at all to anyone here. Now living vicariously through my nephew.

Thanks for your service, the great info and for being here.

I am 26 years old, born and raised in Wyoming, educated at the university here, and am greatful for being an American. I am in talks with my recruiter to join the Air Force. I got a 92 on my asvab. Still, I am in debt and it might be a battle just to get in. What ever I do I want to make a difference. Hope to learn a lot, and find a place to channel my energy.
