Ditto.

Go by the same screen name over on SOCNET & Mil.com.

If my profile is in order then I would imagine that this'll be the last time you hear from me, just here to lurk & read.

Have a great day.

Thought I should introduce myself, also. It's only fair that you should know who's lurking around.

And thank you for taking time out of your lives and sharing your knowledge with us. I can't say that enough.

Reporting in. Been participating on a number of other sites, but they're getting overrun with all kinds of strange folks and a lot of the good guys are leaving. I've been lurking here long enough to figure out this is where they've been going. So the profile's filled in and it's good to be here.

Realized that I should introduce myself. I was a long time lurker at SOCNET, but I decided that just being an unregistered lurker was not being a good visitor. As posted above, "It's only fair that you should know who's lurking around".

I'll probably be posting mostly on the Humor threads.

Thinking of what the Team Sergeant said I would say that I served a complete tour in each OCONUS assignment I had. OTOH nobody could accuse me of homesteading.

Upon further thought, since the 46th Company was really Co D, 1st SFGA, I guess I served in all OCONUS Groups.

As much as I wanted to extend while in Germany or Panama I wouldn't have felt right ducking the SEA War Games. I took what came my way. As luck would have it, my last tour in SEA was in Thailand. That tour was so tough I had to marry a Thai girl and we have been together for 31 years.;)

I'd say in recent years we've been locked down to one SFG due in part to language capabilities. I’ve only been in two SFG’s during seventeen years myself.

Hello, everyone

Time for me to introduce myself. I am not one of the group members who has BTDT, but fortunate enough to know someone who was career BTDT. After many discussions on a variety of topics, he suggested I visit SOCNET where I lurked for a very long time. I 'quietly' began to lurk here, as well. Finally, I 'quietly' registered at both sites, only to have DNN call me out due to the thread on public school education !

My profile is filled out with one omission. Suffice it to say I am old enough to be the mother of approx. 90% of the members on SOCNET, so respect your elders ;) .

The one area where words elude me is when I try to adequately express my admiration and gratitude for the men and women who have BTDT in all areas of service to our country. For now, I will just say "Thank You".

I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi folks. Made a little introduction somewhere else, but I think it got buried in one of the threads. As one of my favorite aspects of this site is the fact that you know who you're talking to, and know that they know what they're talking about, I thought it only right to let you all know a bit about me.

My name's Dan, spent four years as an 11B in Korea and Campbell. Got out to pursue my degree in history at University of California, Santa Barbara, where I live currently. Can't wait to get back in, though. :)

So there you go. Any questions, shoot me a PM. Love this place because, unlike so many places on the net, it's a serious place for serious discussions with serious, knowledgeable folks. It's nice to de-lurk.

Anyway, 19K....probably the only DAT here (Tank Boy nickname thanks to NDD). Guard/Reserve time coming up on 13 years. My unit rounds out the 11th ACR (BLACKHORSE!) so yup I'm one of those OPFOR guys using hollywood names instead of grids at NTC.;) Not eligible yet for the "diamond" but doing the work and waiting for TIS to kick in.....thanks for a great site.

Since i am reading some time here already i thought its time for a little introduction.
My name is Holger, i am 22yo and from germany. I've never been in the military, currently learning to be a electrician, thinking about joining afterwards if possible.
I'm here because i have a big interest in anything US SF related (dont ask me why, some people here like soccer i live US SOF Units :D) probably sounds stupid.
Maybe i can contribute a bit gear related infos in the future.

as leberally bad as some may have this state be........I must add that we do have some pleasing gun laws, that favor gun owners and concealled carry.

Such as as shall issue law that states the local sherrif must issue a concealed carry permit, unless he can prove the applicant is a convicted felon.

also in order to carry a gun in your vehicle all you have to do is state to an officer that you choose to carry a firearm for your personal defense, end of story.

there is quite the liberal gun lobby against this, but as of yet we have prevailled!

In Jefferson, Clear Creek and Boulder County (and I belive Douglas county too) you can carry a sidearm anywhere you'd like. As long as it's NOT concealed. You can walk into a Bank with a pistol on if you so choose. Granted, you'll get alot of stares and questions thrown your way.

It's a little known law. But it's there on the books.

Same in the Springs. Some guy was carrying a shotgun over his shoulder around downtown last summer to 'exercise his right'.

BTW, last I heard, there was a military retiree population in and around the Springs numbering approximately 50K, in addition to the FIVE (count 'em - five) bases and posts, so the Springs is pretty bearable in terms of conservative vs liberal.

Yep that's right. Springs....IIRC....Carson County ??

Actually...I thinks that law is state wide. Even Adams, Araphoe and Denver County. Although after Columbine, I belive there's a group wanting to dis-ban that and a bunch of other gun laws in those three counties. (BTW...for those that don't know...those are the three of the four that encomass D-town denver. The third is Jefferson county, and I don't think those boys are gonna give up thier guns).

Yeah D-County definitely doesn't like CCW. Boulder county was surprisingly willing to hand over the CC permit, the required course was completed over the span of one Sunday.

I am a 26 year old graduate of The Citadel and Law School and am looking into an 18x contract. I am currently in the recruiting process and have all the beginning necessaries for that contract.

As soon as I get a clearance on the medical and security I will meet with the counselor as to what contract I actually select. The only options I am considering are the 11x option 40 and of course the 18x. So far, I have found this website extremely helpful in making my determination.

I currently live in Houston, Texas and am looking at a new direction of life. A more meaningful one for sure.

Look forward to speaking and reading everyones posts. Thanks and God Bless.

1-18 was turfed to IRF during OIF I to help cover EUCOM's loss of the 173rd. At least that's what they told us. 1-26 ramped up for deployment to Turkey and then stood down. 1-18 lost a great man by the name of CPT Hans Kurth at the beginning of OIF II but that's all I have heard so far.

Hi! I am not Special forces, but my Battalion supported a team at our basecamp in Tay Ninh Vietnam in 1969-70, and I got to respect the team members. We seldom saw them cause they were usually out doing their thing. I served 22+ years active duty and went back to school after retirement and earned a PhD which I used to develop and design training materials for the military, including material for the Special Forces Schools. I welcome the opportunity to be a part of this website and contribute what I can to support the members of our Armed Forces serving now or those who have served. I seems we are the only ones who truly know that without a strong, capable military, the Freedoms we enjoy in this country are constantly in peril. We must always carry that "Big Stick".

Great site; thanks for letting me look around. Thanks for all you guys do.

Salt is a very good friend, and I'm glad you made it over here. Among other things, he was one of the people who sat me down and convinced me to take the route I'm currently on.

To a good friend and respected comrade in arms: welcome aboard!!

Newbie here too. Just found this site today, thanks Ambush Master. No military background, just a LEO looking forward to asking questions and learning all I can from you guys.

And before I forget I just wanted to state the following that pretty much sums up my attitude... "No, I have not been there, nor done that, and I do have a plain all white t-shirt to prove it".

Hello

I'm very new here (first post)

Thought I'd say hello and tell a little about myself

14 years in the Canadian Armed Forces

Started in Armoured Recce, then went to Assault Troop.

Wound up in the CF Intelligence Branch. I'm now retired and working in private security in Toronto, Canada

The site looks great and I'm quite looking forward to being a guest on the site.

I followed D9 over from another site and have been lurking for a while and gathering information for a career change.

I was stationed at Bragg from 1984-1988 as a 13R2P, was Unit Armorer for about a year, and did some other fun stuff. I went into the FLARNG after I ETS'ed and was an 11C in a 4 Deuce platoon.

I spent 7 years in college and got my BA and MA in History, and now work in the computer/software industry. I'm a fairly active USPSA shooter, and read voraciously.

I know talk is cheap, but my plan is to enlist in the WA NG and go SF with A/1/19th.

I look forward to contributing when I have something pertinent to offer.

Hi, my name is Jason, I'm a Cancer

Turn on's are Calling for Fire, Fire and Maneuver, and sad eye'd puppies. :D

In all seriousness, I really enjoy the site. It's a great resource, and it's good to find another site with members who actually use thier heads for something other than eating. Of course, us Jarheads tend to use ours for beating holes into walls with, but only because we're not as eloquent as other services. D

Gentlemen,

I've been lurking about ps.com for a few weeks now soaking in the atmosphere. Truly a well done and well worth reading piece of the 'net.

A friend of mine (currently PCSing back to Bragg for 2nd Phase of SFAS) brought it to my attention. I'm glad he did.

Personally, I've never served but I've been contemplating exchanging my pen for a sword. While I would definitely love to be counted among the ranks of the Quiet Professionals, I'll need to worry about getting through Infantry OSUT first.

Keep up the excellent work, gentlemen.

If you'll excuse me I'll go back to lurking here for a while.

Just registered so I thought i would start of with an intro.

My name is Justin,im 19 years old and am currently a 96B in the Pa National Guard. I put in a request for active duty and am currently fighting to get out of the guard. If i cannot get active duty, I will be looking at some NG SF units to serve in. Ive always been impressed by the degree of professionalism displayed by the SF community, hopefully i can get the chance to serve in the same tradition as some of you have or continue to do.
I am here to learn,so i will probably spend my time lurking, so i can soak up as much info as possible.

I've been lurking for a while, I might as well introduce myself. My name is John, and in May I swore into the US Army National Gaurd. As of right now I'm in a recruitment and retention company for drill until January when I ship off to OSUT. I've got to say I'm pretty pumped up about going, the last few drills we've had former SF and scrolled Rangers come in and run classes from pugil stick fighting to knots. I have to say my admiration for the Special Forces community grows constantly; as does my desire to serve amongst you. With that I say thank you men and women of the US Military for your service. I owe you.
