Just Isn't the Same.

Sitting in my driveway this evening when I had a Pappy Jones moment, spilling my pipe tobacco on the ground, which made me realize that Ernie passed away 10yrs ago this week. As much as I like and respect Adam (he was Committee Chief when I went through as a NG student and was the GS lead when I did the Assession process to go AD) he just doesn't have the "flair" that Ernie & Pappy did. Just thinking of those two brings a smile to my face. The younger guys truly missed out.

Ernie worked for me on Demo Committee and in C/1/1 SWTG(A) and I worked with Pappy at USASFC(A).

Both were great mentors for everyone around them, including their leadership.

I learned more from them than I ever did in school or training.

Gone too soon, my friend. You are sorely missed.

Yeah, great bunch of guys that we'll never get to hear of their experiences again.
When I first started as a GS echo instructor, every morning (well almost) Pappy and Earnie would be sitting outside the NAF/Bank Hall on that concrete wall contemplating the days activities. I
d always stop and join in the AM bitch session...lol
Sorely missed.
BTW, When we named the 18C complex after Ernie, it was Asian/Pacific Islander month. Also the 18E facility is named after Mike Kalua, another islander...Hawaiian., as was Ernie.

Both were awesome, I remember both of them getting into a very loud shouting match at the SOAF back in 2001 during the 18C course. I think last time I saw them was during ANCOC or Free Fall school.
