11th SFG Fort Dix 85-87

This may be a long shot but here goes. I was part of the 11th Group based out of Ft Dix for a couple of years. I don't have a single piece of paper as proof and it could not be counted for my retirement. No big deal. The only "proof" I have is the coin. I can't remember what Company/Battalion it was nor my Team. Just wondering if anyone else was there, or knew of the unit.

“C” Company, 1st Battalion, 11th SFG located in Bldg. 5518 if I recall correctly.

Teams were the old 3 digit #’s - 131 thru 135

I remember going through basic at Dix in Jine '78.
The plt was over at the supply bldg and we saw some GB's loading stuff in a jeep trailer. (I guess 11th GP guys then?)
Our Drill Sgt said those were Green Berets....don't f*ck around with those guys..they're baddass...
Then in 1982 I went to badass school

I visited C co there one time to support an airborne operation when they were coming back from somewhere. I was surprised the there building was my old basic building. The drop zone was on NAS Lake Hurst and the ballon hangers were in background.

I was with the 11th Group at Ft. Dix too, though I don’t have much in the way of paperwork to show for it either. I remember the time there pretty well—it was a solid experience, even if it didn’t get counted for anything official. I’ve still got the coin as the only real memento from that time. I don’t remember exactly which Company or Battalion I was with, but it’d be great if someone else who was there could fill in the blanks or share some stories.

Hey the 11th!

I was in the 11th in the 1981-82 time frame. I had ETSd from the 5th years before, went to college then got accepted into medical school in NYC in 1981. I bit off too much with med school and SF reserve but later would end up at 'Mead as a bn doc. I had gone up to Tappen Zee to "interview' with their top. Was a waste of time since I was being treated as a civie trying to get into SF. So I left and someone there told me about the C Co at 'Dix. Went down there saw SGM Jim Santos and was immediately accepted by SFC Walter Rosario on his team as an 18 B/D E-5, he was a hell of a good guy! Ran into SFC (?) Paul Drensik (?) there. Strangely he was my class leader in phase III at 'bragg when he was at the 11th C co. Paul Decker was the CO at that time.

I wrote the official history of 1-11 SFG(A) when Group was being deactivated in 1994. I had a lot of notes, old ARTEPs, MTPs and the like, on 1st BN activities in the 1970s and 1980s which would have included the Ft. Dix units. Unfortunately, my completed copy is somewhere in the USASOC archives and all my notes are buried in a box somewhere in my storage.
