Talking Finally smoked the old man of the mountain...

After scouting this guy all off season, finally managed to spot and stalk on him. The rain lend me a hand allowing me to get to 65yds. Hit him a bit back with my arrow, so I had to come back the following morning....found him 75yds from where I shot him.
After getting nothing but cull bucks and eating tag soup the last few years, it's about time I got a nice one.....should make pope and young for az.

Congrats Doc, Nice buck. Did a lot of hunting outside Huachuca. Can't say I ever got in to 65 yds. Good job.

Really, really nice deer. I'm surprised that they are still in velvet there. I had never thought about them being later in velvet.

Have you scored him yet?

P&Y 176 was the green score....I have to wait for the drying period to pass to get the true score.

Well, they called me from camp last night, and the trail to the river bottom where I saw the big one's been cleared. Heading out this AM.

That 160-plus P&Y's gonna taste like prime rib and look spectacular as a Euro mount on my toolshed door!

Of course, to quote Bobby Hill, "I'm not bragging, because it hasn't happened, yet."
