MSG Ret. Robert Pittman (Pit)
I just got word that Pitt was killed while working as a contractor in Astan. He was one of the finest Team Sergeants in SF. I had the pleasure of working under him for about a year, and his leadership greatly impressed and influenced me. He was a team guy through and through, and we have all suffered a great loss. I, the rest of his team(s), and everyone who knew him has benefitted from his existence.

J2C just told me the news about Pit. I had the pleasure of doing 2 rotations with Pit and countless missions. He was a truly great warrior and human being. Myself, and dozens of other dudes, are better off for having served with him. 1/5 should enshrine his ever present spit bottle and work boots.

I was with Pit right before the incident.....
I was with Pit on the day he was killed. He and I had early morning coffee together and talked about what we thought the day would be like... he was focused and determined in his usual, normal manner. I know that without doubt he loved what he was doing and was making a huge difference. He moved to the sound of gunfire without fear!!!
He died a hero doing what he loved...... may God bless family and friends!!!

I remember the day young Sergeant Pittman came to my ODA from the 101st to OJT while awaiting his Q course date. We were fortunate enough to get him back on the team when he finished the SFQC where he served as the junior engineer. He was a great SF soldier and I'm am lucky to have known him. Rest easy Pit.
