Building IW Leaders for Tomorrow

All,

I recently served on another "task force" of (Ret.) GEN Dave G and
(Ret.) COL Tim H-- Two men still dedicated to improving our nation's skills in Irregular Warfare.

The team they assembled was largely comprised of special operations/forces/projects individuals with a focus on Irregular Warfare Leadership in the 21st Century: Attaining and Retaining Positional Advantage. Findings were published by the foundation Dave runs.

For those of you involved in creating tomorrow's IW leaders today, I highly recommend reading the findings shared in the link below. For those just entering this world, read and learn.

Others now out of the business may get a kick out of the cast of characters you may have eaten some dirt with --posted at the back.

Yep, I know most of the SF contributors listed, but thought that Annex C was the best part.

This seems an appropriate place to drop this link.

In a speech today SecDef Gates outlined transformation goals for US Army centered around preparing for irregular warfare tasks (training foreign militaries, language/culture knowledge, etc).

Quote:
Success in future wars, said Gates, "will be less a matter of imposing one's will and more a function of shaping behavior — of friends, adversaries, and most importantly, the people in between."
