It's amazing what MIT kids can do.

Using Atlas's patented rope interaction design, the lightweight Rope Ascender can pull a fully-loaded soldier up a rappelling line at up to 10 ft/sec, as well as tow vehicles and even remotely move equipment and casualties.

Unlike a lot of the toys I see being created for GI's, this one seems like it could be useful in some situations. The graphics that contain the specs are not very clear, but it looks like it weighs about 16 lbs. Not something you'd want to carry on a long walk.
