We were at the 'Bird for SF Intel school in '65 and there were 6 or 8 six stripe E-7's that had been recalled to AD. When the NCO club opened ,that where you would find them.
Payday one of our class members a young looking E-8 wanted to play a joke on them.
After class about half the class was in the club. Our joker came in the club and stopped at the top of the stairs.
Pulled his pay slip out,looked at it and started shaking his head. Someone said "what the matter John"? Well you guys know I only have 6 years in the Army and just made E-8 and my slip says NO PAY DUE. WHY NPD John? Well the pay scale on the back says you have to have 8 years in the Army to start drawing E-8 pay. So you jokers are going to have to buy the beer for 2 years!!
These ole jokers started shaking thier heads and you could hear their jaws crack. Damn SF E-8 with 6 years in the Army.
