Introduction of Self

Hi everyone. My name is Spencer. I have been the crazy, adventurous type my whole life. I've always done well in school but school wasn't enough. I needed something more out of life and knew that I had much more to give. As of 11/05 I am officially an 18X Recruit and leave for Ft. Benning 01/20. Ill be honest, i'm not a guy who always knew he wanted to become a SF soldier. Im studying biology currently and felt I must take my eagerness and commitment to serving others to where it matters most, in suffering countries. Where else but the Green Berets. I love all that they stand for and all the work they put forth to serve means beyond their own. I'm focusing on getting in peak shape which i must admit is quite hard to prepare for when you read about the training you all do. Anyways this is my introduction and and it is good to be apart of this.

Introductions

Hello,
My name is Mike, I'm a former member of the Canadian Forces, currently in Law Enforcement, and back in the Army Reserves again (weapons tech).
Had the opportunity to train with some SF guys from the "school house" a couple years back at HK, and am a member of the JFK Museum Association.
Found this site while researching quality boots and have learned a few other things since then.
Pround to be a member here.

About Me

I'm just a regular 'ol 68W. I'm always looking for something new to learn or something old to review (i.e. understand it better). I am on my second deployment to Iraq, this time with TF ODIN, so there's not much for me to do right now but get better at what I do. I figure this is the best place to do it.

Post CIAO

Hello from Bamberg Germany. Engineer currently assigned to the 173 ABCT. Waiting for the 29th of Nov to come around, going to 03-09 in DEC. I have been sitting behind the scenes, checking ouit this site. I've received about 97% of the answers to my questions from this site; my compliments to the owners, really well put together.

New guy

Hello everyone.

Name is Jeff, I just retired, I was in the Army for 25 years and in 10th Gp for 24 of them. I enjoyed every minute. But it was time for me to pass the torch. This is a very interesting site and I look forward to reading and participating in some threads.

Hello

Hello everybody. I stumbled into this site by accident. I served 6 years as an 11b in a MNARNG unit. During those six years I had the privilege of working with a SF team in Bosnia in 03-04 and did a 16 month stint Iraq where I occasionally was involved in operations with SOF among other things. I also met a member of a 2/19 E-7 type at the U.S. embassy in Iraq who peaked my interest in Special Forces (unfortunately I miss placed his business card) and encouraged me to look further into SF. I’ve been extremely impressed with the professionalism, technical and tactical proficiency of those SOF personnel that I’ve interacted with.
Since then I’ve been in college, but it feels like I’ve been missing a piece of the pie. I’m positive 2/19 will be getting a call or visit from me in the summer. Until then I’ll be lurking in the shadows listening and learning. Stay safe!!! Thomps

Good day gentlemen,

My name is Spencer, I am an 11 bravo. I'm with the California Army National Guard and currently awaiting shipment to OSUT next August. I'll be in RSP until then, and I am enjoying it. Thus far it is the best decision I've ever made. I hope to attend the tryouts in January. My current unit assignment is CO B 1-184TH INF.

I look forward to getting to know those that are willing. I've been reading these forums for a year or so, and have found your information priceless. I do my PT, and what is required of me. I am currently trying to get my mile time down to 5:00, so that the 4, and 6 mile run time limits are a bit more "doable" as my current average is a 6:03. I make it a point to do my APFT twice a day.

A bit of background. I wanted to enlist since I was 12, when my uncle who went through BUD/S gave me a workout preparation packet, along with nutritional guides, etc. I love a challenge, and make an attempt to push myself daily. Thus far, the military has been everything I had hoped. Corny, I know.

Anyway, I am glad to be a member here and will make it a point to stay out of the way. I'm just here to ask questions, and learn. If anybody has any information or suggestions I am all ears, all the time. Rant off.

-Spencer

That's not an intro. And pretty cocky for the arena you signed up to.

Anywho, I'll try this. I was going to just lurk for a while but that post needed a reply.

My name is Darryl, 25 years old and a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class in the Coast Guard. Been in for almost a year now and will be on the supplemental list for GM2 next month when I have enough time in grade as a GM3. Currently stationed at Maritime Force Protection Unit - Bangor in WA. I've been interested in SF for a short while but the wife and I are at opposite ends on this discussion. (Yes, I know I need to grow a pair... lol) So while I'm in the CG I'm going to get as close as I can hoping that she'll eventually bend and I have that opportunity to join the ranks with you guys. In the meantime, I'll lurk the site and soak up as much wisdom as possible, so pending my chance, I'll come in knowledgeable. As you can see I'm positive because my wife understands why I want it but she's uncomfortable with the amount of time apart. Even though she knows I'll be gone a lot if I get the unit I want next, TACLET.
