Anywho, I'll try this. I was going to just lurk for a while but that post needed a reply.
My name is Darryl, 25 years old and a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class in the Coast Guard. Been in for almost a year now and will be on the supplemental list for GM2 next month when I have enough time in grade as a GM3. Currently stationed at Maritime Force Protection Unit - Bangor in WA. I've been interested in SF for a short while but the wife and I are at opposite ends on this discussion. (Yes, I know I need to grow a pair... lol) So while I'm in the CG I'm going to get as close as I can hoping that she'll eventually bend and I have that opportunity to join the ranks with you guys. In the meantime, I'll lurk the site and soak up as much wisdom as possible, so pending my chance, I'll come in knowledgeable. As you can see I'm positive because my wife understands why I want it but she's uncomfortable with the amount of time apart. Even though she knows I'll be gone a lot if I get the unit I want next, TACLET.

Thanks for your following instructions and doing your intro post, but one of the QP's or Admins will take care of making comments or straighting out guest on our board.
Your into just needed to be an intro. I would recommend that you look listen and learn.

Welcome to the board.
I would make these suggestions
1. Be confident but not cocky.
2. Look, Listen and Learn.
3. Make sure you are in the best shape that you can, but being a PT Stud is no guarantee.
4. Search, read and search more so you can prepare for what you are getting into.
5. Learn what it is to be a Quiet Professional, it is not a boaster or braggart but a Professional that does his job without needing a pat on the back and public praise or recognition. If you need that this may not be the place for you.
Good Luck..... OK get back to your PT and studying.

Did you go through Training Group somewhere between the 82nd and 10th Group?
Just curious, I was there '83 to 86,

Introduction As Requested
Sirs,
I have completed my 72 hours of observing this site and have read the rules. As requested, I would like to introduce myself as T. Sargent in Atlanta, Georgia. Ironically, I was referred to this site by a former operator so I can see for myself what happens when you break the rules when writing books. I am a Realtor and smalltime residential homebuilder. I consider myself fortunate and honored to be invited to this online community consisting of some of America's finest. I am unable to serve due to congenital hearing loss in one ear. Therefore, I have tried my best to live by a code and standard similar to yours in addition to the Bible. I have spent a great deal of time and money during the last 7 years trying to help local veterans of the SO community in simple tasks like getting to the VA, getting their RX and usually just listening. I'll be the first to admit maybe I do it for selfish reasons. Just being around these disabled "quiet professionals" helps me deal with my quilt in not being able to answer the call and serve. Therefore, it's a trade off for both of us. Still I'm probably getting the better end of the deal.
In addition, I have had the pleasure to help several Rangers (Tab bearers not wearers) and some of the white, black and even gray SO units with finding new homes to start the next chapter in their life's to heal and make up for lost time with their families. Helping and befriending these people has been the highlight of my career.
I am extremely well read in Vietnam history in an effort to honor my Father, Uncles and Grandfather's service there. I have a special place in my heart for those of you who served there. When our Country was at its lowest back home our finest kept answering the call year after year. Often times without a thank you! I found out by my mother several years ago that my father (severed on LCM boat running up and down the Qua Viet and Perfume Rivers) in I Corp and an Uncle (1st/7th Bttn Marines also in I Corp) both had to change out of their uniforms upon arriving back in the country in oakland, CA. We civilians can never let out soldiers down again! Ever! I encourage those of you not serving for whatever reason to make an effort to do something to help the vets in your community. One day when your child asks you if you served you can say no but explain how you did your part.
Lastly, I will observe the rules of this website and with your permission possibly participate in some of the treads pertaining to Vietnam which I feel I may have something to contribute in terms of its written history. Thank you again for the opportunity to introduce myself!
T. Sargent

My name is Kris. I am a 23yo college grad. I am currently in the Engineering/Surveying field. Sitting in front of a PC 10 hours a day is boring as hell. So I'm about to switch careers..
I will be going through BLET in January and hopefully be hired on to my local PD before then. Once I get my foot in the LE door, the paths I wish to choose are pretty much endless..
I have been lurking for a while, and wish to learn more while providing some info for others..

Introduction
Gentlemen,
My 7th Group name was "Kencito". I was an 18D, and the third to the last class to go through 300 F1, @ FT Sam Houston. I arrived at A/2/7 (741) in late 1994. Had a great time with those boys. Went to SFARTEC in late 1995, and arrived at C/3/7 ROP (794) in early 1996. Had the 3 greatest years of my life in "Charlie Co", the best SOB'S a guy could work with. I left the active Army in 1999, and bought a ranch in North Idaho. I have been in the AGR system with WA and now ID since 2000. I'm currently a 79Z with the IDARNG.
I can't beleive this much time has passed, I still feel like I'm a 24 year old medic delivering my first baby in Chimore, Bolivia. George, if your out there, send me an e-mail. I don't know who was more scared, you or me!
Hope to hear from some of the guys who shared the same ground as me years ago.
Ciao,
Kencito

My introduction
Hello Everyone,
I'm a civilian EMS professional who has worked in EMS for the last 12 years. I have a passion for medicine, and many other things. I'm also an avid supporter of all of you who are 'quiet professionals' and veterans. Thank you for all you do and have done on behalf of our country.
I've been guilty of lurking here for a short time. The reason I have been lurking is because I'm not part of the community but I do like to learn and mostly read the 18D section. I have some friends and family who are fellow warriors and quiet professionals and it is my hope to learn as much from the site and all of you as possible. I'll mostly be quiet but I have enjoyed learning and reading the clinical discourse in the medicine section. I hope with time I'll get to know all of you better.
Thanks, best wishes, stay safe,

Introduction
Familia,
Many within 7th Group circles would know me as FIG, at least those long in the tooth. I have gone through the normal cycle of growth in my days, 18B, 18F and currently 18Z. I have served on 794 (90-93) 753, 755, 763 (96-04) OPS SGM for 2/7 (04-06) and SMA CLS #57.
I am currently assigned to SOCCENT at McDill AFB, Tampa FL.
I have had the distinct pleasure of serving with some of the folks posting here on the boards.
Looking forward to conversing further with some of the community/family.
Thanks

Hey. My name's Eric, enlisted in Army National Guard and leaving for OSUT in Jan. My goal is to get Airborne qualified and then see about attending Ranger school some time after. If all goes well, some time after that I plan to try out for SF. My family is mostly military. I've always looked up to them, so I'm going to do the best I can at getting those goals accomplished and making them proud. Most important, as a new guy just getting into all this, I just want to be the best soldier I possibly can be and get the very most out the whole experience.
I won't be posting a milllion posts about nothing every day. I'm just using this place for more knowledge.
Thanks,
Eric
