"tis a soft day, winds, rain, bit of snow. Lagavulin with its soft peat tone warms this evening fire I enjoy alone".

In days gone by I drank Jack Daniels and Jim Beam.

I've moved on to Single Malt Scotch and Lagavulin 16 and Glenmorangie Nectar D'Or are two favorites.

I guess I'll have to try the Woodford Reserve recommended so often now.

Discovered a new-to-me Irish whiskey recently, relatively cheap, and pretty damned tasty. It's called "Feckin Irish Whiskey," and it's considerably smoother than Jameson or Bushmills. Good flavor, and makes a good shot OR a sippin' whiskey.

Well, I did get to try some of the Woodford Reserve and it is VERY smooth. Far superior to Jack or Jim.

Picked up a bottle of Bowmore 12yo Islay Single Malt.. I'm a bourbon drinker, but have tried a Scotch from time to time, so decided to vary the routine a bit.

Nice smooth start, smokey finish but not overpowering. Quite enjoyable.

Bowmore is probably my go-to favorite. It's smoky like the Islays should be, but not overly so. Lagavulin & Laphroig tend to be overpowering, but I think Bowmore has just enough for character!

I have a bottle of Jameson Signature Reserve that was about $30-35 from the duty free store in Niagra Falls. It's an absolutely delicious sipping whiskey. IMO it's the best buy I've found, next to free of course.

Concur:

My initial foray into the Islay was a 10y/o Laphroig...and the peat/smoke finish was too much. The Bowmore has a much more pleasant finish while still delivering flavor.
