This past weekend, the '
Memorial Valor Foundation' hosted their 9th Annual Memorial 3 Gun Competition, bringing together competitive shooters and current and former military members to remember, honor, and memorialize fallen heroes. I am both honored and humbled to have been able to participate.
Every year, the M3G Match honors 10 fallen Special Operations service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Through the funds raised, the Foundation will support the families of this year’s honorees while continuing to assist families honored in previous years. With 10 main match stages (each stage commemorating one of our fallen) and seven side stages, the competition was a great venue for camaraderie, competition, and remembrance of these fine Americans, adding them to the ever growing list of Foundation honorees ensures that their legacies and the sacrifices of these heroes are never forgotten. Several Gold Star Families came out and shot a few stages and participated in the Memorial Award Ceremony on Sunday evening.
The event takes place at the Raven/Gryphon Training Facility in Laurinburg/Maxton North Carolina. The event turned the old Laurinburg/Maxton Airport into a small town for a few days. There was a bouncy house (because of COURSE there was a bouncy house) and food trucks for breakfast/lunch/dinner
Chicken Adobo - incredible
Drunken Noodles - Incredible
Tacos - incredible
Camaraderie and Gunslingin' - Incredible.
If you are in the Ft Bragg area - I promise that a ride out there is worth it - just to watch a few stages, check out the vendors, donate a few bucks, buy a T-Shirt, shoot a few of the side matches (all but one of the side matches even provide the gun and ammo) and look over the 'Hero's Walk' of all previous honorees.
I'll definately be going back to help out again next year.
