Learned about those the hard way.
JJ, what can you tell us about that ashtray? Is it an old arty shell? Looks engraved too but better than the standard E Tae Won junk shop.

Thanks to you all!. Normally I wouldn't have posted such a personal thing except he has been my avatar for so many years here and many members have met him. It just felt right. Thanks again!

I believe it's a Naval WWI 105mm. cut to about 2.5inch x 5.5inch dia. A piece was flattened to create the top. I like it because of the volume. I don't need to empty it for every use and the lid prevents the ash from blowing all over.
The engraving is more like fine line scratches. Kinda oriental.
Picked it up on ebay several years ago. It popped up while I was looking for WWI smatchet and bolo blades.
If your interested, try searching for "trench art"

Thanks, I recall reading of that fine young man, doing what fine young men do.
Hope someone sends him a really cool piece of quartz to contemplate as it seems he's a rockhound.

Just a little classic Sarah Palin because it made me smile. As the media completely distorted something she said (shock), she decided to not sit on the sidelines and told 'em what she thought of 'em.
"Every one of you continuing to lie about me and others are lower than the slippery mucus on a snake’s belly."
There's a lot more here, but that just made me smile. "... slippery mucus on a snake's belly?" You rock girl.

Went through Hatch a couple of weeks ago and found that our favorite chile sales business burned down a few months ago. Fortunately, they are rebuilding. BTW, we don't share, we have a ton of Hatch chilies frozen in two refrigerators. We may share the ones that we grow.

That looks exceptionally good...especially since I'm in exile since my home was seriously damaged and my city was devastated by Laura. Those would be really good right about now....

That's too bac, glad they are rebuilding. I'm going to give some to my brother but that's about it.

Wow sorry to hear about your home. I'd make an exception and share a few with you!

Smoked maple
Who needs pumpkin spice? !
Just picked up a few bottles of Knob Creek small batch smoked maple bourbon. This stuff is different, smooth and the supply often runs out here. My buddy’s Christmas gift is now in the house.
