So excited that my plans to visit the, "Happiest Place On Earth," next month were made final today!
Yep, am going to Chicago!!!
Was graciously invited to attend a Conference from the National Psoriasis Foundation, and even better, my shooting instructor from Colorado agreed to fly over and be my companion for the trip!
As I have been saying, "If you are going to go in to a war zone, go with a Green Beret!
Can't wait to try a Chicago Dog, and Malnatis pizza. Yum.

1 drip at a time, but they have a whole lake's worth.
Have fun though, Holly! Lots to see "downtown" - just avoid 'da hoods'.

In Chicago, one must eat a Chicago style pizza, a hot dog, an “Italian beef” sandwich, and anything from Manny’s Cafeteria. I recommend matzo ball soup and/or sweet and sour cabbage soup and the best corned beef sandwich, ever. After a night out, or anytime, The White Palace for the best pancakes and breakfast, open 24/7 and operating since 1939.
The politics still suck, but the food is still amazing in my former hometown.

WD, Sir, thanks for the information about the Mayor, as that is a whole other can o worms!
Badger, thanks for the well wish...will be staying out of the "hoods" for sure. Lol
GSMom, have researched some of the places you mentioned, and they sound like great places for travelers to visit. Am very excited to tour some of the culinary legends of the area, amd see if they actually stack up to their reps!

Brother I served with (and annoyed with my proofing of his Holy Brygada history manuscript) advises me that "north of 5000 block (Lawrence) or so on Milwaukee Avenue, into Niles" is some good-to-go area with culinary delights & shops. Think of it as not-so-obtrusive version of Chinatown, only Polish.
Smacznego!

I wish I had a Happy Thought today; people can be so cruel.....
Well maybe next month, I am planning a trip to Melbourne Beach Florida....Yippee....

Holly, I'm curious as to why you chose Chicago over Medellin, Mogadishu, or Helmand Province?
....seriously, be safe!

A little something to look forward to located in Melbourne, FL - Mustard’s Last Stand - Chicago dogs since 1987.
“Old Melbourne” (the historic area) can be fun. Cocoa Beach just up the road - Vero Beach just down the road.

Yes Sir, well in fact I was chosen to go attend this private meeting, which they are paying for, to provide insight on working in kitchens, and the education about their specific disease when working in one. Lol
Am also going to share the benefits of going in to a lower priced market for their regional meetings. And expand on the much, much lower crime rate we have here. It's a win win...
Badger, actually I have a weakness for polish sausage, and creating that perfect blend is an ongoing passion! Good stuff!
And Rita, thanks! Will let you know the details of my culinary adventure!

Chicago
Greetings, I am a resident of Chicago and yes there are many wonderful places to eat. One thing I would recommend to you, if you have time, is to visit the Museums. Especially Museum of Science and Industry, if you have never been. Also, try to hit Navy Pier, may be crowded. Enjoy your visit, but, be aware of your surroundings. It really isn't all that bad in most areas.

Chicago dogs, go to Gene and Judes. https://geneandjudes.com/ For God's sake don't ask for ketchup.
For pizza skip Malnati's and go here. Trust me. Crowded as hell, the wait is long but worth it. You can carry out, Lincoln Park Zoo is just a few blocks away.

Definitely get to a Museum if you can, Navy Pier and walk down the Gold Coast just because.
