Eh, no bravery involved. I don't really attempt to dissuade these useful idiots but there were a couple other people standing around so it was largely to articulate a point out loud. I don't think she really understood what she was getting into; this part of the state is to WI what folks would refer to as flyover-land on the scale of CONUS. Pretty red 'round these parts.

Some folks just don't know their audience.

I am learning a new skill, concrete casting which I hope to use in the replacement of missing finial/urns in the local cemetery I am rehabbing. I took 3 original urns to an Amish woodworker and he replicated them for me. I used them as the model for my master molds. Originally I wanted to use a two piece box mold but found that to be cost prohibitive. I settled on a blanket mold that is encased in a hard shell mother mold. It not a cheap or simple process. I now have my 3 molds and am experimenting with my concrete mixture.

Been delivering UPS packages for over 15 years.
Delivered my final package last night.

Been one of the backup Feeder drivers for the Flagstaff hub.
("Feeders" or "Feeder department" is the UPS term for the tractor-trailers that distribute among the hubs)

A Feeder driver on my seniority list retired yesterday, so I'm full time in the Feeder department now.
It's a big move up in the UPS world.

Now number 3 on a short seniority list (5 drivers, compared to 210 in Phoenix), and within 5-10 years the two ahead of me on the list will retire.
Top man on a Feeder list is as high as it gets in the UPS world, and this list has a run between Flagstaff and Page which might be the best work in Arizona.

In the meanwhile, the work I will have is very enjoyable, and incredibly easy on the body.
You can keep doing this into old age if you want (and if you can keep passing the DOT physical).

Don't really have to work for a living anymore.
Just a time-consuming, well-paid hobby.

I call it "semi" retirement.

What he said! Way cool & you get paid for it.
Can't speak for other locales but in my area, UPS is "IT" in reliability & cust service. Their route/delivery model in this area shows why, without Billions in debt forgiveness, USPS would've gone with the Wooly Mammoth.

Thank you much.

Just realized something that looked confusing in the post, and my OCD won't let it go...

There are 5 seniority slots in the Flagstaff Feeder list and around 210 in the Phoenix Feeder list.
Not every hub has a Feeder list, and I'm actually a Page Package driver, not a Flagstaff Package driver (Feeder drivers have simultaneous, independent seniority in both their Feeder and Package driver lists).

Package driver seniority lists are far larger and exist separately in every single hub with 3 or more drivers.

Ahhh...
My OCD can rest easy now.

I tried explaining Daylight Savings to the dog at mealtime...

She stared at me, blinking....

Then I thought about it for a minute....

Yeah, Me too.

Finally, home from a surprise 5 1/2 day hospital stay. Our son came to visit Sat afternoon after returning from deployment. 0415 Sun morning I'm throwing up my guts in the toilet and about 20 minutes later I'm checking into the ER at Canyon Vista Hospital.

So, after surgery Sun afternoon, all of my visits with my son have been short ones at the hospital. I chased him away to hike and bike which he loves to do here. We wanted to do some skeet shooting, too. Since we shoot in the backyard, we may still get that in.

He was supposed to leave on Sunday but is staying until Wed to spend time with me.

Pat

PS: NG tubes suck in more ways than one! And hospital beds are worse!
