MLB Playoff Thread
As the regulation season comes to a close, thought I'd see if anyone has thoughts about their favorite team (mine, since 1961, is apparent). It's always tough for some as they wait to see if some prima-donna Wild Card team gets lucky for a short stretch to knock off what was clearly - over 162 games - a team that dominated.
So who do you like for the playoffs and beyond? Expound on things according to Rawlings-Spalding-Wilson. Fly the colors!

Nice one. Truly deplorable.
I don't follow the AL too much because they play that other game (with 10 guys in a line-up). But it seems there is a similar situation in the AL as the NL had last year with 2 Wild Cards in the same division. The Texas Rangers will have to handle some runner-ups potentially ruining what's been a fine season for them. (There was much gnashing of teeth up here amongst Brewers fans when they let one of their anchor-stakes go to Texas - a syndrome of bleeding talent that Cubs fans over the years recognized all too well.)
But there is still the potential to have a Series running between the last 2 classic ball-parks remaining, if Boston can pull it off. As to who comes to Wrigley on Friday after the SF / NY game Wednesday - meh, I'll go do some PM.

Let's go CUBS!
A failing 100 year franchise. after being owned for decades by a liberal rag, only took 2 seasons to turn it around by a conservative family!
Imagine what like minded citizens could do for this country?
Baseball and politics, who would have thought?
Let's go CUBS!

Ha, well said. Amazing what happens when there's a meritocracy in place. Sort of like having the masses attend diversity class in pink slippers, contrasted with letting some multi-talented Special folks be themselves & develop the situation as needed.

Hopefully the Cubs don't go the way of the 2012 Nationals....or play the Giants.

Goes right back to that non-meritocracy thing. 2 also rans get a shot at going right to the team that won 103 games.
But it is a more seasoned team now and they've seen the hoopla. I'd prefer they not play the Mets simply since hatred of the Mets is (or should be) in Cub DNA. Hope the Giants kick 'em to the curb in their own hood tomorrow night.

This die-hard Reds fan has a confession to make: go Cubs! I think it's finally time to excise the Billy Goat curse...

Hopefully rebuilding. Reds were another one of those teams this year who, once eliminated from playoff contention, started having flashes of playing some pretty damned good ball. It's like, whew, glad you weren't doing this at the beginning of the season.

As a Cardinals fan, I'd like to see the Cubs win it all.
However, I moved from STL to DFW this season, so now I'm pulling for the Rangers too.
Cubs vs Rangers would be a good World Series.

Bumgarner did pitch a gem tonight (complete game shutout). Long ball ended up doing the job, though. We'll see them in Chicago Friday.

Agree. If the structure was up to me they'd have already finished game 1.

Blue Jays beat Rangers again - lead the series 2-0 as they head to Toronto.
Ouch. Just goes to show winning most games in the league doesn't mean an easy playoff run! Will Cubs do better?
