There will certainly be an increase in this type of activity by the "keyboard commandos" who want to make a name for themselves by striking soft targets.
Knives are cheap, easy, and readily available to even the "stupid" and "crazy" who want them to fulfill their calling.
There are plenty sheep out there who have chosen to make themselves easy targets for the predators.

And soon Americans, like the English, will be banning the assault/tactical/scary knives....... because we all know, its the knife's fault.

Indeed...for some reason, they never choose to go after the "tool" using the tool. Rather, they blame the inanimate object...I guess it's easier that way for people who are scared of their own shadows.

Haven't seen the tirade against black high-capacity knives yet, but I'll bet anything beyond a "NY reload" is considered a "stockpile" in the latest editorial style guide. 
Example:
