Clive Bundy is not in the same insane group as the Branch Davidians. Had the "Cliven" Bundy situation lasted a bit longer I'd been there with my sniper rifle staring back at the federal snipers and would have been happy to exchange rounds. The Branch Davidians (except the little kids) got what they deserved. While it evolved into something very stupid, that situation had nothing to do with government overreach.

Clinton wanted to make a statement about guns. The Branch Davidians were suspected of having automatic weapons (none were later proven to have existed). What better way to enrage the public and demonstrate his need for more gun control than to stage a big raid for the TV cameras? So you get BATF to go on the raid with a television news crew in tow (which is exactly what BATF did) so that you can capture the whole thing for the American people and make a big news issue out of it against guns. Of course you also have to invent some charges like child molestation (A frequent allegation in .GOV busts) to make it look good.......just to show everybody that they were a bunch of kooks, right?

My investigations convince me that David Koresh was guilty of
statutory rape. But I don't understand why two-thirds of the search
warrant is about child abuse and statutory rape when the ATF has
no jurisdiction over those offenses.
