Moved sheep to our new residence this morning. Got them in the trailer a couple minutes after I showed up. Learned a bunch and saved money in the process! Persistance pays off

Sitting on the bench outside the Pleasant Hill library over in Contra Costa County waiting for it to open this morning and I hear the unmistakable thrum of radial engines overhead. Looking up, I watch a B-17 fly over on a NW heading towards the nearby coast range. Five minutes go by and I hear radial engines again, this time from a B-25 heading in the same direction. Another 5 minutes and a B-24 flies over. I sat there for awhile hoping there would be a fighter escort coming over shortly, but no luck. Made my day.

My wife and I were having a brew on the patio of the 94th Aero Squadron in Van Nuys when 2 B-25s taxied to the runway, ran up their engines, and took off one at a time. Beautiful sound! The ambiance of the 94th AS added to the experience.

Enjoyed my lunch today while sitting at a picnic table under the port side wing of a C-124 Globemaster and looking at a C-47 named "Okie Dokie" painted in D-Day markings.
To the men of WW2 who established the legend and traditions of the US Paratooper which inspired so many of us to follow in their footsteps, "Airborne!"

Day 5 of vacation.
Only have to work 4 days (2 on either side of the 4th weekend) out of a 44 day stretch.
Half price Absolut at the grocery store.
and...I GOT CARDED!!!
Cashier said he had to ID anyone who "appeared to be under 30 years of age."
(Must not have noticed those six grey whiskers.)
Sigh...
This feeling will go away the next time my granddaughter asks for "Grampa Erik".

I heard that sound a couple of weeks ago and new immediately what it was. I stepped out on the back deck, looked up and watched as a B-17 flew over. Couldn't help but smile. I think those engines run on testosterone.
