For those who do not know, there are no new manufacture automatic weapons being made for civilian ownership and there haven't been any made since 1986.
The registry was essentially frozen to new entries, all you can do is to pay many thousands of dollars to buy one of the increasingly rare pre-ban automatics.
In 1985, you could buy an M-16 for less than $1,000, now they are $15,000 and up, if you can find a transferrable one. Not too many investments have done better than that.
A registered drop in auto sear or lightning link is also in the multiple thousands of dollars.
