Home invasion suspects killed in gunfight with NC homeowner

Good shooting.
I don't know anything more other than whats stated in the article but it appears the home owner will make it. Good for him

Happened near FAYETTEVILLE.

I've got to say, Fayetteville,NC is one town in which I'd damn sure know the owner before I'd invade his home.

My question is: Out of all the places to commit a home invasion, why the home of airborne and special forces?

Maybe they should have started off some place easy, like the gun free zones you hear about?

Because outside of the military, Fayetteville has a huge number of predatory scumbags, like these deserving gentlemen.

IIRC, Fayetteville has one of the highest per capita municipal crime rates in NC.

It's always good to see when an "intended" victim refuses to "be" a victim and is able to defend themselves from those that intended on doing them harm.

I googled the hundred block, and it is a LOT closer to Bragg than Fayetteville. AFAIK, still two running wild out there (I am SURE they are still running after that).

or make sure the home is unoccupied. A year ago, a buddy of mine went back from Sage only to find that his car that was parked on post was broken in, and when he got home, it was looted clean. TV, guns, and all. It doesn't take much for these scumbags to survey the area disguised as whoever and figure out people's schedule and presence.

None of those firearms or skills are of use if the twerps come when we are gone. I think good locks, alarms, dogs, and neighbors are more crucial.

I'm still thankful of one of the advice from the senior QP here when I first got in town. Cheap and close to base in Fatalville means house robbery or worse. So I stayed on post for some time. A friend of mine who arrived at the same time chose to live close, and cheap. His house got broken in twice the first 4 months. They took his coin jar on the 2nd one. Goodness gracious.

Best wishes for the home owner's recovery.

Because these types of thugs are not very smart...

Good on the home owner and hopefully he'll make a full recovery.

From a local LE to me via FB Message:

"I'm waiting to see if that Fayetteville home invasion was a guy we got a call about on Friday. State Dept. contractor dealing drugs while stateside, CI told FPD some other dopers were planning a home invasion on him."

Now this I am more familiar with. Would it be safe to say there is a large gang presence in and/or around Fayetteville? If this homeowner was dealing as an "independent contractor" on another gangs turf, it would explain one motive.

Its still nice to hear two savages were planted. Also nice that the local media didn't have momma on the front porch crying her eyes out, telling all the cameras he was just turning his life around and "wasn't a bad boy, just was out with his friends". Oh and don't forget the obligatory Grammar school graduation photo.

The old Class Six store was next to the post boundary, and right across Yadkin Rd., maybe 100 meters from the 24/7 Access Control Point, and it was broken into almost every month, even with bars and alarms.
