No problem, badshot.
These are the times that try men's (and women's) souls.

Well, most of 'us'!
I don't think I wear a tin-foil hat, but I will readily admit that there are those among us who don't wish well for the USofA.
There are also those who love their country, but have a strange and different view of what that country is or should be - perhaps from hanging out with 60's bomb-makers, who should have been imprisoned or executed. I don't think that makes those people evil (those with the strange and different views, not the former bomb-makers), it just makes them wrong.
I also think that when 'we' take on some of the attributes of those 60's bomb-makers, 'we' do not do our cause service. Instead, we do it harm.
But, that's just me.

Back to the OP, which - by the way - was excellent. I gave a few thoughts. Anyone else have something of substance?

I am disappointed that whoever makes the decision to have guests appear at this type of thing used the parents of Hadiya Pendleton to push the gun control agenda instead of honoring the mother of a hero like Sgt. Justin Marquez who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
The parents of this poor girl sat up there with Michelle Obama like a spectacle; to push a corrupt and poorly thought out agenda.
Her blood is on your hands BHO: it happened in your city, with your gun control measures a mile away from your house. You should have thought twice before using this poor girl as a martyr for your cause.
I am not surprised, but I am disheartened.

my thoughts
Most of the ideas are just that...ideas. He presents no concrete plan or method to achieve these lofty goals. I realize that the SOTU is not the forum to discuss the how of these reforms, but maybe changing the format wouldn't hurt.
The way he manipulated the crowd witht the gun control issue is appalling, and at the same time I have to give him or his staffers credit for creating the moment. I'm torn on the issue, I agree that if some new gun control regulation is coming it needs to be from the legislative branch, not an executive order, but I'm at a loss on how anyone thinks they can regulate a right that has been tested and upheld by the SCOTUS.
I don't like the idea of fixing the mortgage industry as we saw what happened last time we tried that. He could potentially get something done, but 5-10-15 years down the road we might be right back at 2007 with the housing market crash. I want more details.
High school reform, again idea seems interesting in having graduates receive a technical degree or Associates degree, but how is that going to happen. What is going to fund it.
I guess bottom line, it seems like the President has been hanging around the good idea fairy, and while some of his ideas sound interesting, but he hasn't explained how he's going to pay for all of these reforms. I don't for one second believe that this won't cost tax payers one dime.
I'm very interested to see if more details will be forthcoming from the White House.
