Classified leaks came from White House
Not this administration. I just don't believe it.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012...m-white-house/
The President not at fault though:
Quote:
The California lawmaker said she was certain that President Barack Obama, who receives a daily intelligence briefing, isn't disclosing secret information, but she was uncertain about others at the White House. "I don't believe for a moment that he goes out and talks about it," she said.

Before getting too pink on this topic, one might profit from reading - Ronald Reagan, NSDD-19: Protection of Classified National Security Council and Intelligence Information, 12 January 1982
- Ronald Reagan, EO-12356: National Security Information, 2 April 1982
- Ronald Reagan, NSDD-84: Safeguarding National Security Information, 11 March 1983

Nice to see some folks in the Senate looking at the problem for what it is, and not beat the party drum. Good on ya Sen. Feinstein.

Power Players and Washington folks
There's a lot of power players - at least they think they are - in Washington and they like to be seen as much. So they "off the record" far too much stuff to the MSM.
Add in the agenda folks and Washington leaks like a strainer.
Leaks are not done by only one party either. It comes from both sides.

Leaks ongoing from Whitehouse
Business as usual.
Quote:
The chairman of the powerful House Intelligence Committee told Fox News that security leaks out of the Obama administration have not stopped despite an internal probe, and that President Obama has not done enough to turn off the spigot.
Without providing specifics about the new leaks, Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., said the damaging release of sensitive information continues.
|
Quote:
“We know that sources have self selected out of cooperation around the world,” Rogers explained. “We know that operations have had to change. We know that operations have had to shut down.”
|
Quote:
“It is very clear that somebody who had access to the White House situation room, had very senior covert action classified material was responsible for some of these leaks," he said. "That is not a big group of people."

And sometimes their mouth literally drains blood out of someone, never heard from again, who doesn't realize they've been burned to further a cocktail-circuit agenda. Symbiotic parasites.

Ahh... back to the dimly-lit parking garage
From the NYT: Inquiry casting chill over coverage
Quote:
The legislation approved last week by the Senate Intelligence Committee would reduce to a handful the number of people at each agency permitted to speak to reporters on “background,” or condition of anonymity; require notice to the Senate and House intelligence committees of authorized disclosures of intelligence information; and permit the government to strip the pension of an intelligence officer who illegally discloses classified information.
|
I note the committee's muzzles are all pointed away from their own campfire circle.

Right. Being permitted to speak on condition of anonymity because ordinarily one is not permitted to speak. But you didn't hear it from me.

Hence the term, "cleared for rumors."
I'm eager to learn, anonymously of course, just who these authorized purveyors of "the word..." are. Hopefully they'll be outbound on another loss-leader Amtrak in January or driving back home in their Chevy Volt.
Same workload for fewer folks - this could entail full-time career moves.

And... IF these particular "leakers" are on the way out of town in January, they'll be quickly replaced by "leakers" of a diiferent stripe, but the same M.O. and objectives. Thus shall it be until several are sent away for a long, long time... or better yet, arrested, charged, tried, convicted, appealed, and introduced to "el paredon"!

I completely agree; 'bout as restrained as I could be. There's a Special Forum somewhere that actually says it quite nicely:
"OPSEC violators will be hanged."

It's been going on for a long, long time. As long as there have been secrets, there have been politicians at all levels ready to let them go for whatever reason.
