We are now going to have to re-think this old heckle.

I disagree. I think this only reinforces the heckle by showing it retains its applicability and implications with women serving aboard the ships.

I just got back from the sandbox so I'm a little behind the times, I just recently found out about this from a Christmas party.

I'm from the area and this was on the local news. There is kind of an unspoken public outcry about this; a lot of people feel that since DADT was repealed the "lottery" was a little fixed to find an attractive female gay soldier for the first kiss in front of the media back home.

Conspiracy theorizing? Maybe. But stranger things have happened.
