Just received notification from my wife that the annual "Cookie Wars" have begun.
Around the holidays she bakes and tries to keep the cookie jar full.
It's my job to try and keep it empty.

LOL! My mother-in-law arrives tomorrow and the cookie wars will begin here, too. She'll keep my boys stuffed with cookies, pies and cakes for the next two weeks and I think they're up to the challenge.

My wife, step daughter, and step son arrived safely yesterday after a 20 hour drive. We will spend the week together. All 4 kids in the house at the same time. Life is good. Merry Christmas

Christmas Trains
Every year some friends of mine set up a fairly large model train set during Christmas. This is set up in their backyard, and I believe the scale is 1:19.
The admission is 5 cans of food goods, and this is donated to the local food pantry which helps famalies in need.
Throughout the set there are hidden objects that the little kids search for and find such as: a wolf, eagle, elve, baby jesus, snowman, rooster...once they find everything they turn in their checklist and win a candycane.
This year they had a live band playing Christmas Classics, and the atmosphere was great.
I've uploaded some pictures to my website for you all to enjoy, of special note is the U.S. Army Transportation Corps boxcar. Although all branches of the service were represented, I only added the photo of this boxcar since the majority on PS.com are U.S. Army.
If you click on the picture it will take you to a larger version. I used my phone camera, so the quality isn't that great, but still enjoyable.
Merry Christmas all, stay safe!

I get to go to nearby VFW tonight to see Nbr. One 12-yo granddaughter get (another) award for her winning "Patriot's Pen" essay.

Happy Hannukah
"All it take is one small flame to dispel a vast darkness." Lets hope and pray that these small flames dispel the darkness in our own lives and of mankind as a whole, especially in these difficult times. Let us make 2012 a good one

Happy Christmas/Hanukkah everyone.

I had the honor of performing the first bone marrow harvest in our new children's hospital and taking a trainee through her first harvest. I was able to correct deficiencies in the harvest process that were a result of the transition to the new hospital and help teach proper technique to those coming after me.
One lucky woman is getting one hell of a Christmas present today - prayers out to her and her family, and heartfelt gratitude for the gifts, opportunity and privilege to help these patients.

That's huge. Thanks to you, and prayers for the recipient and her family.

House Painting
Helped my youngest select and move into a new house. Primary purpose was to aid him in finding a good solid place (I'm a retired Engr.).
Secondary (self-serving) purpose was to get son and 7 month old grand-daughter closer to Grandpa.
Within walking distance.
