Because killer whales have been oppressed for way too long.

If the flipper fits you must acquit?
So, consistent with PETA's bat sh*t logic, before Tilikum one of the killer whales in the article can sue for constitutional rights, shouldn't he first be on trial for the murder of a Sea World trainer in February of this year?

It was an understandable and justifiable act against the cruel slave driver.

Obviously people also should have the right to marry animals, especially if they are in a loving, consensual relationship.

Have to say. I'm a little divided on this one. Keeping those Majestic creatures in a Fish Tank. For stupid peoples entertainment. Just rubs me the wrong way

And besides, they are waiting first on the court hearing to decide wether or not Tilikum should be allowed to administer hormone blockers to his son. That way, the son can decide wether or not to have a sex change operation.

A rat, is a dog, is a chimp, is a boy to PETA. And no eating fish either, they feel pain too.
I appreciated these creatures much more after actually seeing one in person.

Given the recent television special about how Orcas learn to incapacitate large sharks I think they need to get in some nice seal-colored wetsuits and go hang out offshore near the Farallons. They can then advocate against the Orca's persecution of the Great White.
Someone should naturally be onshore with some quality optics to capture their valiant efforts on film. Any trained observers available?

As PETA would say Mr Reaper. There are many ways to view these creatures in their natural environment......
