Preformed fragments are nice, and certainly would be an improvement but I'd like to see a plastic or other material used for the fuze, body, etc that will not travel 50+m in one large piece creating a serious friendly casualty risk.
That's the biggest shortcoming of current issue US grenades IMO/IME, uneven fragmentation. I witnessed a grenade explosion where a piece of the fuze struck a Marine 35m+ from the blast seat, which is the reason for this opinion. S/F....Ken M
