I'm currently a medical student in Texas with a National Guard obligation after I become a physician. While it is a few years off, I'm trying to find out whether there is a billet in the TXNG SF unit for a physician. If so, I'm hoping to get into contact with the physician currently in the billet so I can learn a little more about the reality of filling that role and what I can do in the next few years to be best prepared to provide medical care for QPs.

As a Med Student wanting to get into the Community - you should first graduate Med School, then Residency (preferably in Emergency Medicine or Ortho), and perhaps then apply to take care of the Team guys. They are, for all intents and purposes, professional athletes who compete with their minds bodies and things that go boom to various degree.
While an admirable goal, you have a long way to go before you can be the best qualified to take care of the operational aspect of this particular community.
Good luck...
