Success...one step at a time

Well, for the first time in over a year I managed to raise my right hand completely over my head, arm straight, fully outstretched. Surgery was as successful as could be. Physical therapy ahead, and I'm looking forward to the coming challenges of getting this shoulder back into triathlon shape. One step at a time...

Finally had some vacation time...

...my brother and I took my son wilderness camping on an island in the middle of Lake Michigan over a weekend in late June. My son hiked 9 miles in one day (not bad at 6 years old ). We found/ate wild strawberries and raspberries then skipped stones on the lakeshore. There's something awesome and nostalgic about watching someone so young and small interacting with something so vast/timeless as a great lake or ocean.

My family spent last week at a rustic family resort. My son caught his first fish - I cleaned it with him and grilled it up - he thinks catching the fish was more fun than eating it but can't wait to go out again. My girls spent most of the time practicing swimming in the lake or in the pool.

I went golfing with my father (one of his passions) while out. We shared some good stories, jokes and beers.

Good times and some much needed time away from work to spend with the family.

Yes I know the feeling! My happy thought is that I can start doing pull-ups again and I'm only 4 months post op. Oh and I can swim, my summer is so mch better now that I can swim.

Prepping the next generation to support the 2nd amendment.

On vacation in Colorado, went with a friend out to the desert to take my 10 year old shooting real guns for the first time.
He's been drilled on gun safety since before he could remember, and was quite excited.

Shot the 22 rifle, the M4s the pistols with 22 conversions, and he wanted to shoot my friends Kimber 45.
We let him.
He likes the 45 best.

By the end of the afternoon, he would load the mag, rack the slide, and blaze away with pretty good speed and accuracy with the 45.

He's hooked.
(This) Mission accomplished.

Neah, neah, neah, neah, neah.....neah

Just won the Daily 3

Didn't make me rich but it'll buy me a round trip ticket to Frankfurt or Amsterdam sometime before summer's over.

Update...

Physical therapy is coming along very well. 5 weeks out from surgery, and I know it's not where I want it to be, but I continue to remind the impatient child within that time is my friend, and that only time and a steadfast desire to take this slow and proper, will return me to the level of physical prowess I once knew.
spherojon, I hope you are doing as well, brother!

Regards,
Mick

Meant to post this last Friday. Yes, Friday the 13th. I found a $20.00 bill in the parking lot of my office complex.

Stopped by a local farm stand today, bought some freshly picked tomatoes and corn from this morning. Damn, the corn is so sweet and tender it almost brought a tear to my eye.
