This movie should be called "The Lie Locker." The movie was garbage and I am surprised it won, considering how many soldiers feel about it-Just like health care.

The real question is when are we going to see some QP produced films with some real SA and attention to detail in them. I can't wait for the day when the real truths are told and put to film to give our nations heroes just some of the respect they deserve. (Just not by E. Haney) An accurate account of the Battle of Debecka Pass will sure change public opinion.

What ever connection a movie has with reality is purely accidental. They are made, let say, for artistic reasons. The industry judges them on artistic merits.

Like the movie IB, I really liked the ending, to bad it did not happen in real life.

Well it was. It did not show our soldiers commiting atrocities or whining about how they hated the job they signed up to do. Remember the last movie that depicted soldiers that won an Oscar? Who was in it? shhhhhhhhhhhhh don't say the name or the actors.. bad juju.

I, and most of the paying public, think Avatar was a vastly superior movie both in terms of technical expertise, cinametography, and acting to Hurt Locker. Perhaps it will spawn some better pro military movies.. I am awaiting Green Zone this week.. YMMV

True Dat. It just don't get no better either..
AM

PS:
Speaking of pure fiction...how often does a high dollar plastic surgeon, neuro surgeon or chief of surgery just hang out in the ER all at the same time, hoping some dire trauma will come in ala Grey's Anatomy.

I think The Hurt Locker won because James Cameron's ex was the producer...

Well - I've got my coffee mug handed out by The Duke to the extras from Group who were in his movie - anybody know where I can get one for The Hurt Locker?

And so it goes...

Kathryn Bigelow:" I was just gonna reiterate that with Rob and Patrick, who took a very brave shot with this movie. And we owe them dearly. Perhaps one more dedication, to men and women all over the world who… Sorry to reiterate, but wear a uniform, but even not just the military – HazMat, emergency, firemen. They’re there for us and we’re there for them. Thank you. Thank you." At least she did not forget to thank those who's story made her night possible.

She was the director, but I have a feeling it won because every sifi film that has gone to he oscars gets snuffed. Enter Star Wars and Lord of the Rings here.

Ms. Bigelow was also a producer for The Hurt Locker.

The third Lord of the Rings film went eleven for eleven, including best picture.

Gentleman, with all due respect; I have watch this thread develop with a growing sense of disbelief at the lack of SA on this subject matter; John Q. Public hasn’t a clue as to what the job requirements are, and in that sense, rather than ridiculing the messenger disguised as a movie, embrace the love while it last and think of the positive reinforcement the film has rendered to those in the service of our country.....and how that appreciation can be utilized. It makes no sense to criticize a transient media product when its sole purpose is to sell tickets.
It is PR….as in public relations. It is not.... authenticate the intricacy of an MOS...as a primary responsibility in being PC with the service MOS and then sell tickets.
Its a business, that cold, that simple. Get over the BS

sorry I was distracted by other producers and missed her credits.

In February 2010, the film's producer Nicolas Chartier emailed a group of Academy Award voters in an attempt to sway them to vote for The Hurt Locker instead of "a $500M film" (referring to Avatar) for the Best Picture award.

Richard:

I am continually amazed how this forum floods me with old memories like they happened yesterday. Unlike the candidates who post here i did not have orders to join SF. I was inprocessing to Bragg when I met a Cpt. from 7th on his way out. 1st group was just opening up and he said they needed 12B's. He made a call and told me not to sign anything. Then he left. I had three days to process and was pissing the sgt's off by refusing to sign my papers. They laughed when I said i was going to special forces. They actually had the MP's waiting on the third day when I would be considered AWOL at 1700. Lo and behold at about 1645 in comes CSM Chavis(sp?) from 7th group. "Where is LHC is says" You should have seen the jaws drop in the processing station. We drove back to group and they got me scheduled for the next open slot out at camp MacKall.

I only met him that one time and was just a tiny blip on his map, but he changed the path of my life that day. It was later when I watched "The Green berets" that I saw him holding the flag as a PFC. I think it is difficult for some posters to understand the small degrees of separation that exists within SF.

Back to this thread:

My wife has 20 yrs working wardrobe in the movie industry. If the movie is union she probably knows someone working it. If there is ever a movie that you want to score some swag from just pm me and I will do my best to make it happen. It works best if you let me know while the movie is still filming.

On another note:

For all of you uniform sticklers; there is a good living to made as a military costumer for the movies. Provided you do not mind being the only heterosexual male on the crew.
