One Second After (by direction). Scarey stuff. Certain about one thing: I live too close to the DC bowl-way.

It is worth the read, lots of great info in it. If you like it, there are other books you might like such as "No Angel" and "Under and Alone" about police officers that went undercover in motorcycle gangs.

What Am I Reading?

I just read Jim Bolen's book. I had no idea the book was here until I opened the front door about 11 PM Friday. I guess I spent about six hours on it. It is only 185 pages or so with pictures, etc.

Frankly, I do not read war books. I promised I would read this one.

I am a bit partial to Bolen as I knew him, and; he was damn good. Bolen is a good man. He goes more into his days as a brawler, a soldier of fortune, his business dealings, family, and; he is just another damn fine SOG man,who really lets what others wrote do most of the talking. He makes a good case for tracers by recon in certain terrain, plus he even refuses to use claymores.

Finishing "Shadow Divers" by Robert Kurson. I started lonnng ago, but put it down for several reasons. I went back to it recently and found it to be in actuality a wonderful "detective story" as much as anything.

There is a great deal about teamwork and brotherhood in it. I will post elsewhere some of the "principles" of one of the main characters.

Interesting read... ballsy characters...

Just finished The Only Thing Worth Dying For in a matter of days. I would rate this book in the top 3 that I have ever read. In the middle of Tell Me How This Ends right now and thus far, very informative about all apsects of the surge, but mainly the focus is on the current CoCCENTCOM. Next on the list is The Bear Went Over the Mountain and The Other Side of the Mountain. By the time I am done with those, it will be good-bye MCCC, hello Farsi.

I've been on a Vietnam kick lately. Starting with my third read through of W.E.B. Griffin's Brotherhood of War series.

I then read Guns Up! by Johnne M. Clark.
Fields of Fire by James Webb.
Once a Warrior King by David Donovan.
Green Knight Red Morning by Richard E. Ogden.
The Walking Dead by Craig Robers and Charles W, Sasser.

I am now reading Body Count by William Turner Huggett.

Of those, Once a Warrior King and The Walking Dead have been my favourites. I was wondering though if anyone here served on a MAT team in Vietnam and if Donovan's accounts are accurate of what went on and the problems faced dealing with the South Vietnamese government.

Tender Warrior by Stu Weber. A former ranger and Special Forces soldier his book is for the christian man and deals with topics such as a man and his: fellow soldiers, children, and wife. Good stuff from a good man.

In the middle of The Only Thing Worth Dying For. Very engaging. I wish I had more time to read through it.
