I'm planning on sitting down with a Manny's and a Maker's Mark and Coke at my favorite watering hole when I get back home! RnR leave can't come soon enough!! lol
As far as holiday beer, I've always enjoyed Red Hook's Winterhook. And The Alaska Brew Co. has a nice seasonal brew as well, but I can't remember the name.

You must've really enjoyed it if you can't remember the name.

I have been hooked up (THANKS MUCH!) and the Bourbon County Stout is great!
Very unusual taste for a beer, definite taste of bourbon, with chocolate, vanilla, and coffee undertones. Little carbonation or head, pours like a good motor oil, but darker, completely opaque. All that and 13.7% alcohol.
I highly recommend it if you can find it.
If you can get it and are coming to the Bragg area, I will buy it from you and will drive to pick it up. It is just that good.

And he even shared some! I have to agree; it was memorable. Particularly interesting was how the bourbon flavors and associated nuances emerged as the beer warmed towards room temperature. Definitely a treat. Thanks, TR.

For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

I know I'm way late on this one, but just wanted to make the correction. The beer you're refering to is called Pirminator, a doppelbock made by Parkbrau and only available around Christmas time and had about 20% alcohol. I went to high school in Kaiserslautern, and drank it many times.
From what I hear, the Parkbrau brewery changed hands sometime back in the early 90's, and is now just called Park. Also heard their beer is not as good as it used to be. Not sure if they're still making the Pirminator.

I should read this thread more often. Or you could have just hit me upside me ole head. Sorry I missed your original request, Sir.
If you would like a resupply let me know. Be happy to pick some up for you.

Andecher
I am most fond of Andecher Doppel-Bock Dunkel from the Andechs Monastery SW of Munich. Nice, oil consistency (read thick). I have gotten hang-overs from 3 when I failed to eat or properly hydrate...
Here in the SW I drink mostly Trader Joe's Simpler Times Lager. It is a nice full-bodied dark lager, 6.2% and it costs just $2.99 per six-pack.

Thanks for the tip. We have a Trader Joe's downtown. Next time I'm down there I'll have to try some.

Big Teddy, BMT,
My first TS, former Lang Vei resident, was fond of Rolling Rock, very cold. He would call out "Ba Moui Ba" and I was expected to have one in his hand quickly! I once chilled a case with a CO2 Fire Extinguisher, no more night patrols! He had a soft spot for the O5B's.
