"My name is Al Gore, and global warming is a serious threa....."
~Dramatic and long pause~
"These aren't the lackeys I ordered"

Carry on.....

15" of snow in 12 hours

That is crazy.

I was all suited up on a silk weight long sleeve under my t-shirt and running shorts this morning ready to go for a run. I was stunned to find sweat forming as soon as I left the door and realized it was 72 at 0530 here in Hope Mills.

Gotta love NC. There'll be an ice storm next week followed by a thunderstorm and 80 degree sunshine.

15" in 12 hours is nothing...I was at Devens for the winter of '78...seems like we got 3 feet in 12 hours...and global warming doesn't imply sunbathing weather globally...

Great-Scot!! I was awoken this morning to the thundering of avalanches falling off the eaves of my house! It's global warming! House avalanches are going to happen everywhere!

And you thought those falling icicles were bad? The house avalanches will crush small children and raise the sea levels. For the love of Pete, who will think of the children?!

Ok you Colorado wimps.

I'll see your 12 inches of snow and raise you 40 mph winds.

I-80 has been shut down since yesterday morning, and is showing no signs of reopening any time soon. I-25 just closed from Wellington to Cheyenne, and Cheyenne to Wheatland.

Good day to stay inside and do some cooking in the crockpot. No wild game, but something hearty and warm. Maybe some chicken and dumplings.

I just called the folks near Lonetree, WY, they're "hunker'd in" as well. I posted a Spice-Rubbed Roast Turkey recipe under the thread, "what are you reading?", it went in the oven this morning.

Just finished digging out my neighbors. Now enjoying a generous pull of Irish Wiskey, Red Breast. I ran out of Jameson last night.

Well, the "official" total this morning by NWS was 12", but I'm sure that at my location we were well over 18 at the least. The 6' high, 15' wide drift across my front door and walk won't be going anywhere soon, except to get larger. My escape route at this time is out the back door, climb the fence and shimmy alongside the garage to the driveway. But I'm an SF mom, so I'm tough.

This has been the snowiest October on record for our area. Can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the winter.

the winds are supposed to increase and cause blizzard conditions with limited to no visibility so its time to send the employees that were brave enough to come in to work back home. looking forward to some good skiing this weekend.

Just got done shovelling out my bike and my truck...a couple of small drifts were 30"...went over to the GFs house and shovelled out her son's truck and her walk and driveway...she is down with H1N1, as is her son...got their snowblower working, helped move some furniture and was rewarded with some homemade chicken and noodles...just the ticket on a day like this...
