My name is Dennis. I am a FOG, I guess. I feel like I was in the Civil War, when I see what our military does today. I have the greatest respect for you all...especially for those who made the military a career.

Thanks to those responsible for this site. It is the best available for exchanging info and keeping in touch.

I have a recindled interest in the "black rifles" available to the public today, and am putting one together for quick deployment while riding snowmobiles in pursuit of fur.

Allow me to introduce myself, I have served this nation in two wars and over twenty-three years, in the Regular Army. In most positions from Private to Battalion Executive Officer of a Combined Arms Task Force in Iraq. After being diagnosis ed with Agent Orange I was side tracked to my last assignment as Deputy Commander CEGE. In Retirement, my last fifteen years has been as the Senior Army Instructor in a High School. Cadet Command instructed all instructors to get an AKO account, where I met some old SF friends. They suggested I might just find some old SF buddies from a bygone era here. I also was told to put a lot of info here and in my bio which I took straight from my DD 214. I sincerely hope this suffices.

Welcome.

Stedfast, I would like to welcome you, but I do have a question about your time line. You state 23 years in service from Vietnam to Iraq. That's nearly 30 years were you out for 7? Blitz

No Problem, Out for College (4 years) not 7 though. Vietnam was 1971, Desert Shield/Storm was 1990-1991 that would be more like 20 years not 30 years.

Introduction

I’m a QM officer stationed at Fort Campbell. I learned about this site after reading Major Martin’s book “Get Selected”. I joined specifically in hopes of finding a mentor at Fort Campbell or abroad to learn from and help guide me to accomplishing my goal.

My name is Ryan, I'm just a thankful citizen enjoying the chance to see the opinions of professionals on gear. I also have an interest in functional fitness, there seems to be a fair ammount of info on this subject here. I've had the oportunity to have many vets, a few being SF, pass through my life and have been very thankful for the advice they have given me and even more thankful for service they give to this country. I appreciate the chance to be a member of this forum and hope to continue learning from your experience.

Regards,

RMR

introduction

Hello. I am a civilian with no good reason to be here except a desire to learn and a fascination with a culture that's very different from anything I've been exposed to. For that reason I won't be posting much if at all, but I thought I'd better follow protocol just in case.

I would like to thank the QP's for running this site and making it available to the public. I have been lurking around here for a while now reading and learning as I train to one day join your ranks. I also found "Get Selected" as a result of this site and it is a great read for anyone preparing for selection without the benefit of an SF mentor.

I am currently serving in 1-21 IN out of Schofield Barracks, HI. I am a 19A in an Infantry battalion which at first I was not thrilled about but shortly after moving to the unit I quickly realized what a great opportunity it was for my development. I was afforded the opportunity to attend both Ranger and IMLC, which I may have not been able to attend had I been assigned to an Armor unit. I served as a Mobile Gun System Platoon Leader for 15 months and BN Mortar Platoon Leader for 21 months (12 in Iraq).

I will be attending SFAS starting 20JAN09 to start my journey toward becoming a QP.
