Richard,

My "long in the tooth" comment was meant for those still active SF serving. Guess i should have clarified that a bit more. Made sense to my pea brain at the time, though in reflection it would appear teething would be a better analogy in regards to the audience here.

Hello,
My name is léo, I’m trying to be a decent 18A in the french SF ;-).
At the moment I’m still in the French 18A training course. I will be in charge in January. After a military duty for two years (light armored cavalry 1998) I have been enlisted in SOF for five years. I became NCO in 2002 still in SOF with sniper and close protection team skills. I’ve been commissioned in 2005.

I went to Afghanistan once and Africa several times (Ivory coast, Djibouti, Gabon).
A master thesis has been made in 2006 by myself about the relationship between conventional forces and special forces in military operations in urbain areas in western armies from 1970 to 2006.
I’m 32 and I’m still studying in order to prepare another thesis about the career of commissioned officers in US, UK, Swedish, IDF and French SOF. If anybody is interested by the subject, feel free to pm me about this topic.
I’m glad to find your community, we are not so close in France. I hope I could bring with humility something to your assembly.
Sorry for my poor level of english
Archade

Introduction

Gentleman,

I thought I could kill two birds with one stone in my first post. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Rick. I'm a medic in the NJ Guard, and was deployed in 2006-2007. Second, I'd like to say that I reached my first 25m target and signed an 18xray contract today with a 20090120 ship date. Thank you for your service and all the great info on the site. CAST OR TAB!

Moving to Bragg soon

Hello all I am currently a SSG in Air Defense but am leaving to go to school in the next 2 weeks to be an interrogator and cant wait. I have been trying to go to Bragg my whole career. I am very interested in BJJ and MMA. I have seen the posts about your schools that are very close to bragg and really want to get involved. Here at FT. Bliss we had a judu and Jiu Jitsu team that I participated in but due to OPTEMPO I did not get to compete. I am more interested in MACP, BJJ and MMA so as to become a more prepared soldier. I have recently found your website and am looking forward to training in Bragg. Thank you for your time and I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi. I'm a SGT in the Army and a Combat Medic. I have not been, nor tried, nor am I interested in being SF. Nothing meant as an insult, but it just doesn't fit into my lifestyle. But I also realize who the best medics in the Army are and take every opportunity to learn from them.

I have read the sticky's and the rules. Got it..."search" is my friend...roger.

I have recently been selected for a MTT Team, so my primary focus for being here is to learn more Primary Care knowledge and get a users view on newer medical gear.

That's OK, being a Special Forces soldier doesn't fit into the lives of 99.9999% of American society.

4 kids and happily married. When I was younger, I wasn't mature enough to maintain the commitment to both, but at least mature enough to recognize that.

Well I thought it was time to introduce myself.

My name is AL Elks, I join the army right out of High school and went straight into Special Forces. Yep, I was an SF Baby. Those were the good old days too. We had plenty of Vietnam vets and those guys made GREAT Team Sergeants. I was a PFC on the team holding down an E7 slot. I spent my first years in 5th SFG (ODA 584) until 1987 which is when I took a 1 year hardship tour to Somali where I served on an Infantry TAFT.

After that I escaped 5th SFG (during this time frame 7th SFG was where the fun was). Anyway with a VERY strong Arabic language background I moved over to A/1/7 (ODA 712 which was the mule team at that time). I spent a few years on 712 and was fortunate enough to attend ASOT training.

The SWC monster grabbed me and they were about to pull me to one of the Phase committees. The ASOT Detachment found out I was getting ready to get pulled so they snatched me up. I spent 4 years teaching ASOT and then got nailed at the TMC when I went to get some meds for a bad back and they threw me on a P3 profile (took me off jump status).

SWC took care of me and pulled me up to 2nd Bn where I served as the S3 Operations SGT for the 2nd Bn (Special Skills Bn). I moved from the S3 position to the 1SG position which is where I retired from in 2000. Two years after retirement I went back to SWC as a contractor to teach at the ASOT detachment once again.

Well that's pretty much my background and it's nice to be here.

AL

Morning everyone, my name is Shawn, I'm 18 and out of California. Went through some long roads in the family life, graduated high school a year early to leave on a Ranger contract, made it to the final week of infantry OSUT before getting discharged for Scoliosis last June, watched my company graduate. Spent the past 5 months doing acupuncture and intensive physical therapy to correct it and build a good medical portfolio, going to MEPS in 2 weeks to get a waiver for Scoliosis and Myopia after a long road of work out of my pocket, will be obtaining a new Ranger contract and starting my journey back at day 1 of infantry OSUT in January unless I get stuck with regular 11x. My respect and appreciation goes to all of you. Keeping motivated.

Good morning, my name is Matthew. I'm a 2LT at my officer basic course right now. I am hoping to put in my packet as soon as I hit 1LT (p). I am assigned to 1st BCT, 82d Abn. Div. after I finish my schooling. This will most likely be my only post, I plan on just reading as much as I can and learning all I can before having the privelege of going to SFAS.
