New season, new coaching staff, same great players on Offense.
Colorado, Auburn and USF are the key games. I think WVU shows a bit more diversity than the zone read/Pat White run/bubble screen.
Let's Go Mountaineers!

Guys,
We'll find out at the 'end' of the season...and anything else is merely conjecture. Don't y'all have anything better to do with your time?

OSU's main problem, is they will be over confident.
Easy way to stop the blitz from the LB's, RB Screen in the middle, TE stop and go, quick pitch to the full back on a toss sweep. Once the LB's commit to the ball.....its over. IF the QB can read the feet and not the eye's of the LB's they will pick apart the OSU Secondary D.
**If he's up on his toes, he's going to blitz, or come hard to the line.
**If he's light on his heels, kinda waiting for a pass....hit them with a run and gain 3 or 4 yards....remember 3 4 yard gains is a 1st down, keep the chains moving.
Corner blitz will be a tad bit harder to pick up. Most corners like the elemnt of surprise, and most have the speed to get into the backfield from the outside. Thats were the quick screens come in handy. Snap, toss to the WR on the blitz side and down the side line for a race.
Now...MI's D...has got to account for experience on the OL. They will have to hit the OL and push, everything into the backfield to disrupt the play. Screws to Screws the MI DL has got to knock heads, and let the LB and secondary personel worry about the ball. As we all know...OSU is a power side, power play football team. STOP the strong side surge, blitz with a weak side LB or DE, come down the line of scrimmage and stop the play from the backside. If the strong side LB and CB's attempt to stop the pulling OL and HB/FB/RB...its going to be a long night for MI's defense. If MI's DT can push the OG or OT into the backfield just a little bit...it will force the play to bump wider and further outside, giving a fast DE or LB from the weak side time to catch it and stop it.
**As long as he runs the line of scrimmage and takes a great angle of approach. If not...1 or 2 stops and MI will get hit with a reverse for a TD giving OSU all the momentum they need.
sorry for the rant, working 10p to 6a....and I'm trying to stay awake...and I love me some foozball.

Love this kind of analysis.
Corner blitzes are problematic because of the ground they have to cover to get to the QB, unless they send the slot CBs. Concur with everything else and I add to keep in mind that the team that controls the line of skirmish wins the game.
But first things first....Utah at The Big House
GO BLUE!

Counsel...I agree. I coach youth football and rarely corner blitz due to the time that is needed to reach the QB. We mostly end/ tackle twist and LB/ Tackle trapdoor in hopes of jamming the OL back into the QB and running backs. I have a mean little Noseguard that will eat most Center's lunch......

Two big games for me tomorrow: Michagan @ Notre Dame, and THE Ohio State University @ USC.
I don't think Michigan's OL can hang with ND's front seven, so they will not be able to run the ball, and with young, inexperienced QB play, throwing will be tough as well. Clausen is better than last season. ND wins at home 20-10.
USC has a D just as good as Ohio State, plus an offense that can light up the score board. If Beanie Wells does not play the game of his life (doubtful) USC wins this big.

Counsel, where are you???
Notre Dame is kicking your rivalry ass bad. This is a huge rivalry and you elect to avoid this forum? Typical.
Typical of Michigan fairweather fans - talk smack until the team gets their asses handed to them.
We beat your fooking behinds. Badly. Michigan SUX!

ND beat a pedestrian Michigan team-whoopdeedo. Meanwhile USC is eating OSU's lunch. JMI, looks like you're in for a long season.
GO LIONS!

Class act.
Is this what passes for good sportsmanship at Ohio State?
We? Were you on the field tonight?
Get a grip, people, and show some class and courtesy.

Whoa whoa whoa, TR. Maybe you don't read this forum but I have taken boat loads of crap from Counsel. I don't like being classless and I certainly have better temperment than what I posted, but Counsel and a few others like to take my nose and rub it in Notre Dame losses. That comes with the territory of being a Notre Dame fan.
But if you're going to single me out for it so be it. Fair enough.

Read my post regarding USC vs Ohio State. I called USC winning big. Long season? Maybe Penn State should schedule USC @ L A. We looked like complete crap, but then again Penn State couldn't keep up with us much like we couldn't keep up with USC. We are who we are. A poor leader of a bad Big Ten. When your team is ready maybe they can lead the Big Ten.
And pedestrian Michigan? That is a huge rivalry for ND/Michigan. I don't care what the records are. Your team doesn't have a big rivalry so you don't understand.
As I said to TR, I took boat loads of smack last season when ND got their asses handed to them game after game. So what if Michigan is "pedestrian?" Who has PSU beaten?
It didn't seemed to matter last season when ND got beat by an underachieving Michigan team who was also pedestrian. Never thought I'd see the day when a PSU fan makes excuses for a Michigan team.

Ok kitty, put the claws away LOL! We just beat Oregon State last week who, as Mr. Harsey will proclaim, is not chicken feed. I love busting your chops about ND because your fans are quite the haughty bunch! PSU has an in state rivalry with Pitt (who we do not play much since we entered the big ten), with your team, and since arriving in the big ten have established what I would consider a decent rivalry with both Michigan and OSU! Every school plays cupcakes every season including your beloved golden domers. In the past PSU has scheduled plenty of tough early games: Nebraska, Alabama, Texas, Texas Tech, etc.
Excuses for Michigan? BWAAAHA! I am merely observing that this is a rebuilding year with a new coach who, as ND exposed, is woefully ill prepared for a big ten schedule.
With warm regards from a proud Nittany Lion fan...
