Mornin'
Name's Pete, 21 hailing from Ohio. I'm an Active Duty 25S, currently deployed. Been considering for a few years now, and I hope to attend SFAS after redep, but concerned with some administrative issues I'm having. The insight of this site has already provided me with many answers in addition to Major Martin's book and has helped me to strengthen my resolve on the matter. All I can say is thank you all, I'll do my best.

Currently I am in the Q course smack in the middle of 18D school. Originally came from Artillery for 8 years and did a brief time at recruiting duty. I told myself I would join the site when I had pertinant information to add and that day came a few days ago.

Greetings, I'm am 24 year old SGT at Ft. Stewart. I'm a engineer, but I'm behind a desk doing the training NCO duties. I'll start working with the SF recruiter tomm. to get the paperwork process started. I found this site awhile back looking for prep. info SFAS. This site is full of information and guidance. And some laughs. Looking forward to preparing for the road ahead.

Howdy

Just want to follow the rules. I am a retired SF 180A. Retired in 1996. Served with the 1/75th, then most of the rest of my time was with 10th Group, with a two year stint at Det A Berlin (just before it inactivated), a retirement tour at SOTD-JRTC. Have been a DoD/DoS contractor since then. Presently well into my fifth year in Iraq where I am a mentor and advisor on the general staff of the 10th Iraqi Army Division. Although a native Texan, I retired on the coast in northern Maine where sea kayaking and life in general is very good. Texas and the Gulf Coast are just too darn hot!

Currently in college (ROTC but not contracted), I'm definitely joining the Army. I've found this to be an excellent site for getting more than just interested in Special Forces, which I am. I'll keep reading and post when I can add to the conversation. I gotta go do some PT now!

Gentlemen,

My name is Ben and I joined this forum hoping to soak this board like a sponge. Currently I am considering a 35 series enlistment in the Guard. I was hoping to get information on some of the different 35 series MOS's as well as research the possibilities of getting assigned to either the 19th or 20th SFG in a 35 series support role.

Good evening all,

I've haven't been a registered member for very long, but in that time, have gathered a wealth of information and insight. One of the most significant assets this board has offered me is the Get Selected text. It's truly a worthy text for anyone interested in Special Forces. I'm doubly pleased by the fact that its proceeds go to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation for its scholarship program. To anyone reading this, who does not already own a copy, I strongly suggest that you order one as soon as possible. http://www.specialops.org/

As of today, I am enlisted into the 18x program. I ship on 20080814. Today was a very happy day. For any individuals interested in the 18x program, I offer this advice from my current position.

Get everything in writing before you sign. If you feel you're entitled to something and it's not on your contract be prepared to push hard. It's the career counselors job to enlist you, not to offer you bonuses/rank if they don't have to.
Expect a bonus. Mine is $30,000. I do not know what is typical.
Be completely honest with all the background questions. It's not worth the risk or your integrity to lie/withhold.
Prepare, prepare, prepare. Land navigation, fitness, determination, research, etc.

Thank you ProfessionalSoldiers.com, for providing Special Forces recruits like myself with such abundant information to aid us on our quest. I look forward to my career with Special Forces and further insight from this forum.

Sincerely,

BA

Hello

Hello to all,

First, I would like to thank the Quiet Professionals for a chance to gain more information into the Special Forces community and way of life.

Now, let me introduce myself. I am currently an Active duty Infantryman. DA has decided to hell with my personnal goals and put me on Drill Sergeant status. I have been in the Army for 8 years, numerous deployments and was looking forward to going to Selection. Now I await for my DS school date to arrive so I may finish my 2 years and get back to the real Army and not TRADOC. Other than that, I have a beautiful family that supports all my decisions, and has since 2001.

Thanks again,
Mongo
