I just want to say hello to everyone. Although I was never in any part of Special Forces, I do admire the ones who were. I did spend a time in the Army Reserves as a 73C Finance Specialist (I know, sucky job). I was a member of the 336TH FIN CMND in Louisiana. I should be joining the Army National Guard soon with a military intel (I know, two words that shouldnt be in the same sentence, lol) position.

Currently I work as a deputy sheriff in a southern Louisiana parish.

Again, awesome site.

Hello all,
My name is Jason. I am a 18Z currently on the east coast. Joined the Army in May 03. 1st unit 3/62 ADA 10th MTN. SFAS in 96, Q-course as a 18B in 98. ODA 094/092 till 00. Reclassed to 18D 01. ODA 075/ODB 070 02-05.

Google led me to this site. After spending most my day yesterday reading posts instead of working, I am confident that I know some of you here.

There was a cut back and I was shipped to the 11th ABN in Germany...I than reuped for the 10th SF and was sent once again back to Germany...After that discharge I enlisted in the 12th SF (RESV)...Service dates 1954-1966...

I've been checking out the sight for a few weeks. I appreciate the straightforward information. No prior service for me but that will change when I earn my degree in december '08.
When I was a kid my sister dated a Special Forces Soldier and he made quite an impression on me. He was knowledgeable about nearly every topic and polite and took the time to encourage me when he did not need too. I went into business for myself right out of high school and I have always looked back at that decision with something close to regret.
I feel for some of the non prior guys on here that are wanna be's or never was's, it eats away at you. My plan is to give it my all in a few months (whether its 18x or OCS or thru the NG, i don't yet know, but this site really helps with that). I havent yet had a question that wasn't answered on the site or by an email to my recruiter.
Thank you to all that have served and thanks to the QP's that take the time on here to help those of us that are getting ready to.

Gentlemen,

First I would like to thank you for your service to our country and maintaining this site. This site is truly a cornucopia of invaluable Special Forces knowledge for those of us that have not Been There or Done That. I myself am a 25 year old student of chemistry attending MTU. I plan on joining the Army under the 18x program as soon as I feel I am capable of doing the things that will be required of me. The only thing I know for sure is that I have a long hard road in front of me that will require me to prove myself with every step. Enough said, time for me to step back into the gray man position and do some PT!

Hello all, my name is Tim. I'm an Army ROTC cadet at the Rochester Institute of Technology. My brother was Army Special Forces, 3rd Bn 3rd SFG ODA 371, killed in Afghanistan October 2003. I'm just looking forward to an opportunity to talk to anyone that might have known him and/or served with him. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to do so, and I look forward to learning a lot from everyone on the site, especially the QPs.

Gentlemen, Hello

I am a fireman in California as well as the AF Res. I have always been intrigued by SF. Last year, in Kirkuk, I had my first encounter with a QP. My interest in SF has grown exponentially each month, and has been solidified upon discovery of "PROFESSIONAL SOLDIERS". My search for information has found no source to rival this forum. The quality and professionalism with which your site is conducted is only bested by the wealth of knowledge to be had. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.

I retired from RA Active Duty in '98 and was a 45K Armament Repairer for 22 yrs. I joined at the end of Cambodian Year Zero and things were too peaceful for me

. I mainly supported INF, CAV, and AR units OCONUS and loved every minute of it. 1 tour each in Bamberg, Schweinfurt, Vilseck, GE; and 1 in Cairo, EG. My CONUS time was spent instructing at Weapons Dept, APG, MD. Last tour was on a Tech Assistance Fielding Team for M1A1 Tanks in Egypt. Yes, they have the latest generation of 555 of our latest M1A1s (built in their own co-production factory, no less, 120mm guns too...scary stuff). We helped them move, shoot, communicate, and maintain their newly fielded stuff. Challenges were many, obstacles always, but I enjoyed it. I didn't make the 8 list and my RCP was 22 yrs, so no choice but retirement

. A few months later after I was out, the Army changed the RCP to 24 yrs

I love anything that goes bang as well as fixing it when it doesn't. I had great pride and joy supporting the Combat Arms units and made many good friends with members of them. Now I maintain combat simulators such as EST2000, M1A1/M2A2 Conduct Of Fire Trainers, and LAV-25 Combat Vehicle Training System. These simulators allow me to still interface with the people, equipment, and tactics, but I really miss the real thing. All but war is a simulation,

Hello,

Im a 29 y/o doing research and checking out the site (also on armybasic.org) to see if the Army and SF is what I want. My past history, I was a Jet mechanic for 6 years and I am currently a mechanical Designer. But I find it unfulfilling.

Prior to deciding to go army I weighed 263#s im currently down to 219#s and running some serious mileage, and pushing the pavement. So Ill be hitting the recruiter once Im sure I can get a 300 on the apft. and im below 205#s. .

Currently reading Chosen Soldier (by Dick Couch) I tried getting on warrior-mentor.com (to aquire more reading material) but it appears to be down.

If anybody knows a good "Day in the Life" article on here Id appreciate it, so far the search results havent been promising.
