Intro

Good day all,
Orion here. After working for a year as a contractor in Iraq I got second hand exposure to what life is like for Soldiers in combat arms MOS's (I led a very sheltered, CONUS, REMF 4 years in the AF) I was lucky enough to be mentored by a very squared away SSG 13F, and an even more squared away SFC 11C Platoon Sergeant for the duration of my contract, and I've realized that the job, the mission and the life of a combat arms Soldier really appeals to me. While researching the different combat arms MOS's to figure out which one might be the best fit for me, I learned of SF. My search for more information about SF led me to LF.net, and SOCNET of course and ultimately here to PS.com. After learning more about SF and the varied missions, particularly the UW/FID missions, the "by, with, and through" attitude, the cultural sensitivity, and the unconventional/outside-the-box nature of SF, I'm convinced that it's the branch for me.

I'd like to thank the mods who run PS.com for allowing someone like me to join, and I'd like to thank all the Quiet Professionals and members of the site for the priceless information they offer to an outsider like me. I will now sit back, stay in my lane, continue PT'ing, reading Get Selected! and PS.com. Thank you again.

-Orion

Hello, Buzz here. I am a medical student currently in the process of contracting for a Navy scholarship, and I am interested in eventually serving a tour with SF medicine. I realize that SF doctors aren't actually SF like medical sergents, but only support staff, so I won't be around this site for very long. However the field of SF MDs is so obscure that I'm having a hard time figuring out what I need to do to even apply, what residencies are required, etc. Your standard military MD doesn't seem to know anything about the field other than that it exists. I'm hoping that some of the more experienced medical personel on this site could give me some resources about how to make myself a good candidiate and how to apply. Thank you in advance for any responses.

Future soldier

Hello all,
I just enlisted in the Army in the 18x DESaP program and report for basic Jan. 16th, 2008.

A little about myself - Ohio farm boy, born and raised. 26 years old, finishing my PhD in social psychology (the reason for delayed enlistment) and have been working with DHS and LANL for the last 4 years.

I have always had the upmost respect for our men (and women) in uniform, SF in particular, and want to thank all of you out there for your service.

I've been training my ass off for the last 14 mos. and eagerly anticipate my upcoming service. I'm basically here to keep my mouth shut and ears open.

Regards,
Clint

Greetings,

Been reading and learning for about two years on the site so hopefully I won't mess this 'introduction' thing up.

Graduate student studying homeland security, commission date is May 08, after 4 years of training and learning i'm now just patiently waiting until next spring to pin on bars and CONTINUE training and learning.

Discovered this site from a student at RS who took the time to teach and enlighten my guerrilla ass a little over two years ago. He, along with my experience there, made my choice of career path (hopefully) simple. So I'm doing all I can now to try and give myself the best oppurtunity to achieve it. Take care gentlemen, thank you for your service and sacrifice, it is what makes young bucks like me proud to follow in the heavy footsteps.

Hello.

Brief introduction of myself.

I've joined up from across the big pond to use the site as an information base to feed my SFs interest.

Far too late for me to enlist, so 100% civilian (besides being the wrong nationality!)

The site seems to have all the hallmarks of a great forum so far.

Introduction

Hello.

I am a SF/NSW intel advisor/instructor, mentor young shooters so they may become advisors, create ground Foreign Area Assessments (lumping IPB, SOMPF, TIP, ....), and teach/conduct HUMINT collection activities. I specialize in human factor elements and COIN. Interested in forum for a larger pool of Professional Soldiers to make sure I remain trained on target. Also moderate IW forum at JFKSWCS/ARSOFU.

"If Rangers Lead the Way, and MI is Always Out Front, how come we are here first, all alone, with no backup?" Myself, 1989, before a world of hurt came at us spooky snoops.

You mean second hand exposure, as you weren't personally serving in a combat arms MOS in the military, correct?
