Thought I would use my Borders gift card to pick up a copy right away......Both Borders in the metro area of western NY state have been sold out for weeks, I was told.
Definitely a hot topic and a hot seller.

I just spent an entire flight reading it -- about one-third through. I must admit that the book has been a real education for me, as I had not previously read much about the POW-MIA issue. Truly shocking stuff. We need Eagle in here!
The book is raising all kinds of questions for me regarding many different subjects. For example, I see that we seem to take people who participated in gargantuan screw-ups like the Paris Accords and promote them to more important jobs. I don't get that.
Running out of space on Blackberry -- will post more later.

I too believe there is/was a cover-up! I don't believe we will ever know the full extent of it. I don't believe we got back many Electronic Warfare types when the POW were released. It would seem that someone wanted their knowledge...

I think what you are looking for is an explanation of the Peter Principle.
Quote:
The Peter Principle is a colloquial principle of hierarchiology, stated as "In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence." Formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter in his 1968 book The Peter Principle, the principle pertains to the level of competence of the human resources in a hierarchical organization. The principle explains the upward, downward, and lateral movement of personnel within a hierarchically organized system of ranks.

I spend time with Mark here.
Strange, but I do not find him "crazy," as some have alleged.
If you really want to get him going, ask him about Bo Gritz.

Magician,
My TS MSG Don Ringley (ODA 522) introduced me. Years later, in another assignment I had the opportunity to read his testimony and that of COL Howard re the live sightings. I was very disappointed with Gen KCL position, "too hot to handle" as I recall.
Mark is a great SF Soldier, a man who followed his convictions. I have the greatest respect for what he did.
Please send him my best regards.
Thanks,
Karl

Perhaps you could do a favor for The Family and get him on here? If you were to do this service, we might even find a way to ship you something from Mrs. Robino's . . .

I will ask him. And not because you attempt to entice me.

I intend to read more on my flight home this evening, but let me try to add to my initial comments while my wireless is working . . .
1. The book is proceeding chronologically and I am up to the Carter administration. The thought that kept going through my head was, "wait, this was THIRTY YEARS AGO"! I am really disturbed that we didn't do anything then, and I am not at all looking forward to reading what went on later. And how many of these guys are still alive and what condition are they in?
2. I now completely despise Kissinger. Not that I was a huge fan before, but what an idiot!
3. How is it that we make hostage deals with the Iranians (twice!) but not the Vietnamese?
4. If we won't make hostage deals, how can we just leave those guys there?
5. I am curious what others believe we should do in light of this information now, and what we should have done earlier.

Deny it all you want, but I believe this is a solid enticement.
Oh, and thank you very much!
