RIP SFC Brown

RIP Bill, you will not be forgotten. You, like so many others have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We'll continue the fight, we will not fail, I can promise a just and adequate response for the act of cowardice that took you from your team. May god bless you, may god bless your family, and god bless America.

Rest in peace SFC Brown.

You ask; What is our policy? I will say; “It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy.” You ask; What is our aim? I can answer with one word: Victory—victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory there is no survival.-Winston Churchill

I forwarded the information about SFC Brown to my son who is deployed. He sent me the following:

hey dad, well that was the first we heard of who it was that died. ........ about half the team knew him and we just saw him a week ago in
********, wow, its a little surreal. what can you do? its not up to us who
lives or dies is it?

Daily life can be aggravating, but when you think all of those who have volunteered to put themselves in harm's way on our behalf, it's bit humbling. Ladies and Gentlemen, we are in a real battle on the far side of the world.

If I could say something to SFC Brown's family to ease their pain, I would. But I know of no truly adequate words. So when monumental language fails, maybe the simple truth is enough:

I recently sent an email to a Canadian father who lost his son in the War in Afghanistan:

Your son was brave when others were not. He took up a challenge
that other would not. You are not alone in your sorrow; we all grieve when a brave man or woman dies in our defense.

RIP SFC Brown
