Neet's Oil on Desert boots?

I was wondering if the process of softening boots with Neet's Foot Oil is applicable to the issue desert boots?

Just want to make sure that it would not damage the boot material, or discolor badly enough to make them unwearable in uniform.

Thank you,
James

Not unless you want dark brown floppy bags on your feet.

Silicone spray and a brush only, AFAIK.

I've used saddle soap on mine, didn't seem to damage the color. The Kiwi eraser bar and brush have brought them back from everything I've thrown at 'em, although I haven't tried the neatsfoot oil & won't. Getting them wet & walking them dry at 30th AG got them plenty soft for me.

If they're 'rough out' a small brass brush will get rid of most spots and bring the nap back up, and I agree with TR on the silicone spray - get a good one

TR got it.
Neats foot oil also will conduct both heat and cold to the skin. If you want a "hot oil treatment" for your back paws while standing around in the sun, oil 'em up.
