I read it to mean what you intended it to mean. (The CPT is dating himself.)

During my years in the service we had all but defeated the "commies" on the battelfield. The Russian threat was no longer that omni present danger it once was.

I already feel welcome. Thanks. Feels just like being back in the 'stan with all the backslapping.

Working/eating/PT'ing with 1st and 7th at Camp Vance is by far my best deployment. Then during my second tour in Iraq when 1st showed back up my bro I was in Korea with was there, hadn't seen him in years. So that was treat. Back then he was an E4 then got his stripes, now the dude is an E7. That caught me off guard.

BamBam - at least you didn't use the WP on CPT, just some harmless smoke, jeez. I knew someone should have yelled "incomming". BTW CPT - how was it riding on those elephants? (looking for cover and concealment, planning a quick E&E)

Back then he didn't have enough rank to ride the elephants, he was the scoop man, he walked behind them where the the scoop was needed.

At least he wasn't dodging frozen elephand turds. The recon boys caught hell running the route leading down the alps into the PO valley.

Those "recon boys", even preceded the Alamo Scouts!
