Hey Everyone,
I just came across your board while reading up on the MOS 18x. I recently joined up and selected 18x for my own. I have found quite a bit of useful information on here and am glad to be a part of this forum.

Great profile, welcome aboard.
Moving this to the cleverly concealed "Introductions II- Your first post on this board goes here" thread there, S2.

Hi Guys,
my name is Mike and I live halfways between Munich and Bad Tölz, Germany.
I am 37 years old, married to a German girl since 1996.
I was born in Böblingen (just a quarter mile from Panzer Kaserne, at the Kreiskrankenhaus ). My father was a US servicemember in the 1960´s, my mother is a local national from Stuttgart.
We relocated to San Antonio, TX. in 1970, returning to Germany in 1976, after my mother divorced the old man.
I have been a Police linguist since 1988, working for the Bavarian State Police, Criminal Investigations Division. Through my job I´ve met alot of US servicemembers, from the 218th MP Co. (793rd MP Bn., 14th MP Bde) that we worked with on cases here in Munich (McGraw Kaserne), as well as guys from the 1/10 SFG(A) at Flint Kaserne in Bad Tölz.
I was still in contact with some of the SF guys, even after they PCS´d back to CONUS or to Böblingen or ETS´d. One of my good friends from SF (I even visited him at SWC after he transfered to Ft. Bragg) unfortunately passed away a couple or years ago. Others went to the Pentagon, to Carson, or elsewhere. There is no contact anymore.
Last time I was up at Panzer was in 1996, for a Hawaiian Luau at the Teamhouse/Garden of Eden.
Maybe I run into some of the guys I used to know on this forum ? Would be great to see old friends, and maybe meet some new ones. If there are questions, please don´t hesitate to ask.
Stay safe and God bless,
Mike
Munich, Germany

Welcome Mike. That is fantastic country. Even after all these years, I still miss it and would love to go back.
OH! Maybe you would be familiar with some of the Gasthofs, just outside Toelz.

Brad,
thanks ! I like your avatar, the "old school" 10th Group flash with the German flag.

Some place particular ? Kloster Reitberg is still there (the monastery 3mls. north of Tölz), or the Jagerwirt, between Flint Kaserne and Lenggries ? (There are several guys from Böblingen down there every week, to honor the soldiers that are buried at the local graveyard there). Also the Gasthof Papyrer on the road to the Sylvenstein Lake was very popular among the guys from Group.

Too bad that Flash doesn't exist anymore Mike and thanks. However, There are several on this Board that wore it. I visited Kloster Reitberg once. The other places don't ring a bell. The guy and family that owned the one I can't remember the name of were very good friends.
PM inbound.

You are welcome Brad. Yes, I like the old Flash too. I´m looking forward to meeting some of the guys who are familiar with Tölz on this forum.
Reitberg is still a busy place, lots of people from Munich drive there for the good beer.
Nearly all the good Gasthofs in and around Tölz were known to the guys from Group.
Roger that.

Far be it from me to hijack a thread. I could mention names, but I'll refrain. I need to add an umlaut key on this thing.

Introduction
Thank you PS for letting me into your house. Im a Navy "tin can sailor" veteran
1960-1965. After my service I was a hard hat diver in oil and gas, pipelines, and dams for 23 years. From my first marriage I have a son thats been in the army for 18 years. He was 1/75 RANGERS, and 5/RTB in Georgia, and is now with the 173rd in Italy as a brand new butterbar. From my second marriage Ive got an 18 year old that plans to enlist under the 18X program within 6 months. He will gain alot of good information from this site, and may ask the occational question if It has not already been asked. Thanks for your service to the country. God bless you all.
