Rats! Fly season has opened but I need a sidearm version of this A-Salt gun. The little suckers are landing on the front sight, the "ammo" magazine, or my nose. They are not playing fair.

Great Photoshop...
I'm fairly new to this forum, so I just got around to reading this thread...can't believe no one else posted this pic...
I'm ordering one of these today...I raise horses and use fly predators which help some, but one of these will make porch sitting a much more fun experience!

I noticed that his phone number is in my old Area Code. It's solidly built and accurate. He just needs to come up with a shorter version.

Do they come in sea salt calibers? How about Picatinny rails?

One reviewer said that it worked fine on flies; but on other bugs, not so much. OK, so if this is the "shotgun" approach, can I go to 00 Buck and use "kosher salt" for the bigger critters, or will I get mis-fires?

I doubt that it would malfunction, but it's not a real shotgun and the force that the grains of salt leave the barrel would be the same no matter what size, so drag would be increased with a larger grain lessening the impact. Most other bugs are easier to smack by other means than flies, though.

As there is an argument to be made for larger projectile mass, there is also the problem that with higher mass comes individual projectile vectoring. IE: The larger grains of salts multifaceted crystalline structure, will disburse and the target may pass between the approaching salt chunks.
One must match-the-hatch, so to speak. If the target is the fly family, smaller salt grains could prove more efficient. If the target is larger, Sea or Kosher may be more appropriate.
As a reverse corollary, I would remind you of the scene in Kill Bill II. The heroin attempts to enter the villain's trailer, where upon she is caught flat footed by a double dose of 12ga rock salt, at blank point range.
While the total load mass could have been correct, the grains size was to small to be successful. Ultimately the wound caused little damage, she went from 34B to 34 A+.
Uma Karuna, "The Bride", went on to cause total inhalation of her enemies..
I think she is attributed with the quote: "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women,, RLTW."

Thanks for reviving this thread PSM. For some odd reason I had to think of junior high. (well the german equivalent of it)
I remember the janitor being a huge pain in the ass and me and my mates all more or less hated the guy. Now, if he had been more like Lorenzo, I would have probably volunteered to help the guy. Or maybe even asked him to adopt me.
"Why can't you be like Mr. Janitor, dad? He's the coolest guy ever. Now give me my pocket money, I need to get some fuggin maggots!"
