Good! There are too many morons juggling cell phones and goodness knows what else when the only thing they should be gripping is the wheel (+ stick if you drive manual). I have seen too many close calls and people get hit by fools on their phones or other distractions.

While I understand the safety concerns this addresses, will military law enforcement also ticket people who are eating while driving, applying make-up while driving, digging through their CD collection for their next musical selection while driving, turing around and yelling at their kids in the back seat while driving, searching for their ID card or access badge while driving, etc? I've seen all the above many times over, yet everyone seems to get all worked up about just about cell phones.

Remember when....

Remember when they came out with the order that you had to wear your seat belt while on post?

By the time it became a state/federal law the military was in the habit of "Click it" before "Drive it."

I'd wear my seat belt with or without a law. My wife??? A few months back a person ran a stop sign into the path of my wife's car. Of course she had "forgot" to buckle up. She was only doing about 25 mph and only got a little banged up. She promised to wear her seat belt after that but has now forgotten that also.

Cell phones are a distraction for the majority of users on the road - along with all the other non-driver related activities a number of drivers just love to do.

Since Thing 1 and Thing 2 just got their driver's license we have the new joy of 2 16 year old drivers added to our insurance. They have been notified that they have one car and one chance. Wreck it and they walk until they are 19.

My Mum and Dad wanted to get my brother and I insured for their car but we're not because it would cost $4k a year extra! I'm 21 and he's 17 and it's because we're males, mainly.

It's disgusting.

Mind you, Dad lets me drive it when Mum's away LOL.

If it were up to me they should gather them all up and grind them up and seed the wadis in Terrorist Territory. Not just cars, People are hard to find without one glued to their ear. I've been run over in Wally World, in the suoermarket and on the sidewalk.

I once saw a man go into the Men's room, do his thing, and come out without ever putting the phone down.

I had a lady in the Ford Maintenance waiting room turn off the TV and then sit down and conduct her business for all of us to hear.

I remember when my boss gave me a pager, and then a car phone. On my days off I used to park my boat out in the middle of the lake so I wouldn't be disturbed.

OTOH they don't need new laws. They can fit into present statutes such as wreckless endangerment, disturbing the peace etc. There are too many damned laws. Give me a chance and I can reduce them back to the basic 10.
