You talking about the journal Foreign Affairs or the magazine Foreign pPolicy? I think they are both pretty good, but Foreign Affairs is what I spend my money on. I find The Economist covers more subjects better than Foreign Policy.
My belated Christmas present to you, HFCUIDOC, is a subscription to the academic journal 'Small Wars and Insurgencies" They have it in my building's library.

Why thank you kind sir.
Foreign Affairs, the little green book. They started selling it ehre, in a Spanish version and the English version. I've picked up a couple editions of each. Some very good articles. I was a little surprised at the leftist tone in it, but overall very good.
What (if any) is the relationship of the journal with the State Department?

Funny, up here its blue. It has no official relationship with the State Department, though many senior administrators have used it as an anvenue to express their ideas. George F. Kennan wrote an article for the journal under the name of Mr. X and helped frame the Cold War. Madeline Albright has written (crap) for it and I believe Colin Powell has an essay in the newest one.
It is the official publications of the Council on Foreign Relations, which some regard in the same light as the Illumaniti and the Masons.

There's a piece in the Nov-Dec issue about how Clinton's military won the war in 'Stan and Iraq. Interesting read. Uses quantitative analysis while admitting that morale was significantly lowered.

I used to read it when I was in college. Flirted with a strategic studies major briefly, then changed course. Decent journal.

 LOL
The thing about the article is - to me morale is THE critical element for the military. I've seen troops do wonderful things with crap equipment when morale is high and they are well lead.

It's one of the few subscriptions I maintain. I don't always like it, but I read it.

Necropost--Discount subscription offer
FYI, Foreign Affairs is offering a very deep discount on one ($19.95) and two year ($38.00) subscriptions << LINK>>.
The subscription includes access to the publication's digital archive.
ETA: IMO, the digital archive is not what it should be--PDF reproductions of every piece published, if not also every page of every issue--but instead a collection of selected articles and essays.
