Evo Morales
With Evo declaring himself as America's worst nightmare, what does that mean for the troops (indigs) in Bolivia that have been eradicating Coca plantations. I would assume they all fled as soon as the results of the election were announced. I would think Morales has put a price on each of their heads?

He'll be gone in less than 6 months. They've had like 180 coups in 200 years down there.

I hope that we are wrong, but remember saying the same thing about Chavez, and we probably did about Castro before him.

They are somewhat like a ping pong ball. They bounce from right wing to left wing on a reagualr basis. I was there in 84 and they were in the process of kicking out the cubans at that time. It was rather fun to screw with the cuban agents that followed us all over the place, until we disappeared.
Unfortunately, the left wingers seem to have a staying power at times that defies logic.

You preach socialism, land reform, anti-corruption, redistribution of wealth, more jobs, better education, and buy votes from the poorest classes while lining your own pockets and delivering nothing.
If confronted, blame it on the rich, the exploiters, the anti-revolutionaries, the vast right wing conspiracy, etc.

They are populists not communists.

True, but that doesn't invalidate TR's comments. The tactics - and route to power - are identical at least in Latin America. Peregrino

Right. TR gave the very definition of a populist.
Clinton was one in the US.

Yeah, well, in this country, they call themselves Democrats, but that doesn't change the message, or the method.
Look at Roman history and how they appeased the underclass to buy votes. You promise people something for nothing, rob from the rich to feed the poor, spend money you don't have, etc. In a Democratic society, when the voting underclass outnumber the productive members, the slope is terminal. It is an ancient technique which works when implemented in small steps, like the old saw about boiling the frog.
