Interesting read on NOPD

Although many of you watched this play out on FOX News and CNN a few months ago, I found this article insightful and on the money. I, along with several other members, deployed (some even on a voluntary basis) to New Orleans in the first week after the storm. Prior to the majority of out-of-state National Guard units, a CO(+) from the 82nd, and state/local LE units from across the nation arriving; this is what is was like 'on the street.' I stated in a post a few months ago that I never thought I would see a US city in such a state of anarchy. I think you will also get that notion from the article, with interviews of officers that were in the fight. Many of the officers mentioned in the article are the 'go-to' guys in NOPD (a few I know personally), not the faces seen or portrayed in the media. Many of those quoted are prior service, however, you can't view this event as any type of military operation.

Take care,

Good read!! How have you and your's fared so far?? I grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast, between Houston and Galveson, and have been through most of them from Carla on. While the storms make the headlines, the aftermath that goes on for years is never covered unless it's by the libs attempting to bash the Administration. Sad thing, is that it was the LOCAL and STATE government that was totally LOST and either without a plan, or the ability to execute one!!!

924, do take care and keep us posted.

Great post, Thank you. I still don't understand how this kind of writing isn't showing up more often.
